Poll: Mayes Muses- Good or Bad?

Here's the thing, I just got done watching Mayes "Yahtzee" song, and I fail to see why she is on this site. The "Yahtzee" song isn't the first video of her I have watched. I've watched several of them, and each one made me cringe.

It's nothing personal against her, but I feel that the Escapist's ( and her own) time, money, web space, and any other resources that go into her video, would be better spent on something else.

She has a decent voice, and she's relatively attractive ( and we all know how rare that is, for a gamer girl, anyway), but her songs are repetitive, poorly written, and don't entertain.

Other video's on this site don't appeal to me either, but in those cases, I can see that they could appeal, to someone else . Since I am not the only person on the Escapist, I can only assume that the other videos appeal to other members.

But in Muses case, I watch it and think, " There can't possibly be enough people that enjoy this, to make it worthwhile."

So I am writing this thread to find the answer to my question.

What do you think of Mayes?

Do you enjoy her video's?

Do you think her video series should be canceled?

P.S. I am curious to see the results of the poll. If she is a fan favorite, than maybe I am just incapable of understanding her appeal, but if she's not a favorite, then why are her video's on this site?


EDIT: Okay, over 200 posts in, and it seems to be tied up against the love/hate crowd, with a significant number of people voting to keep her. It appears I just don't get it.

Also, to those that say " just don't watch her", I had a legitimate question about the quality of programs on the Escapist. A similar comparison would be, if you don't like Twilight, " just don't read it." But, that's a failure to maintain quality in an entertainment medium, simply closing your eyes doesn't resolve, or answer anything. So, please, no more recommendations to ignore the questionable.

I don't like her, from what I've seen. I just don't like the genres of music she plays in.
Although, I don't really like any of the videos here anymore, they just don't interest me.
Not saying they are bad, just not my thing.

Meh, it just not a fan of that type of music.

She definitely has talent and I don't in anyway hate her, but I'm just not into the music.

Some are the songs are a bit repetative, not within the song itself so much, but some of the songs sound very similar to each other. Also, quite a few times her songs are in a style/genre I don't like or one that doesn't play to her strength. And finally the songs all tend to be a tad short

However, I do really like what she does and look forward to it every Friday. I think when she does acoustic style songs they're very good, showcasing her voice brilliantly. And even when I don't like the song so much I still can enjoy it as an example of ability.

I've done music myself, learnt instruments for years and written a few pieces along the way. I'm by no means good, but it does mean I can appretiate and admire the skill and ability to pump out new songs quickly, with videos. I enjoy seeing what new music ideas or tricks she does next, and I'm impressed by her ability to write lyrics as game reviews (writing lyrics is hard enough as it is).

So, while I don't like every song she's done, and they can be a bit samey, I think she's brilliant and deserves to stay. I thought the "how to write a song in one hour" was fantastic, not only a great song, but great to see and watch the process of creating a song.

I have never liked any of her songs. The ones I've listened to were pretty painful to hear.

I've tried to watch a few of her videos cause the premise was interesting but I found her and her music bland. I was looking forward to the Yahtzee song cause I thought it'd be funny and quirky but it was a let down. I do think she could be doing better things with her time cause she obviously has talent but not for making podcasts that I find enjoyable.

Shes a nice person but being honest the songs are pretty bad, I've watched about 2 or 3 of them and i thought they were pretty meh.

You might want to add a less assholeish "i dont like her" anwser.

I was pretty put off that she called the thing "The Epic Win", I mean... Really?

I actually enjoy some of her songs. Its really hit and miss though. Some are entertaining, while others, i stop watching after the first chorus.

I did enjoy her recent "Yahtzee" song though. Thought it was pretty funny.

Personally, I don't like them. I can understand why some people like her though, her videos just aren't my thing. I'll be sticking with Unskippable, ZP, LRR, and ENN

She has some awesome songs and a few 'meh' songs but I generally like her and think she should keep up the good work!
