Whatever, just wash your hands.
I recently finished season 2 of mlp (yeah I know I'm late, shaddup) and I'm not sure which season I liked better, Season 1 did much more to establish the personalities and make them interesting, season 2 made them a bit wackier but season 2 also seemed to be less directly written to the original demographic, like you would see awesome things like the big Lebowski ponies in season 2.
So which season do you prefer?

Oh, if your gonna just hate on this thread or just post how someone posted something about ponies and your gonna watch to see what happens then watch these 2 vids, and then go in the corner and think about how you don't like good things, until you stop feeling the need to post.

I think they are both very well done. Season 1 was sort of...safe. While Season 2 allowed them to "experiment" with different ideas(whether some of those succeeded or failed is up for discussion).

Season 1 was more consistently good, but season 2 had higher peaks. So...call it even, I suppose.

I'd say season two. They branched out and exspanded the universe. Plus, Luna episode.
And the derpy episode that Applejack tried to steal. That one can't be forgotten...

I liked them both almost equally, but if I absolutely had to choose, probably season 2. Mainly for that Mysterious Mare-Do-Well episode. That was fun.

Pretty much this. The first season was the steady one, whereas it seemed that in season 2 they took more risks. Some of those risks paid off, some of them fell flat. I'm hoping that they learned from the pros and cons from season 2 in preparation for season 3.

As for the question.... Eh, I liked them both. Can't decide. One does not simply......chose a favorite season.....

This sums it up though I have to vote for Season 2 just cause of which characters had episodes and the amazing season finale.

It's really hard to choose between the two, so I'm going to go ahead and say both.

Season 1 has a charm to it that's hard to come by, where most of the episodes are (as put by the OP) true to the very message of the show, with very well structured, stable episodes that had combinations of fun and cute.

The only real downside is that a lot of these episodes, despite having that charm to them, are pretty mellow and, sometimes, boring. Not a whole lot to get excited about, but definitely a lot to love and cherish.

Season 2 really picks up, the jokes improve, the action improves, the quality improves, and we get to see a ton of development from the characters (and many instances where they show that they've truly learned from their experiences).

Episodes are, however, a bit more unstable than the previous season. you have scenes that either drag on for too long, or are shorter than how they should have been. Jokes that are over the top, or jokes that just fall flat. They also don't put as much focus into the ponies being actual friends, instead they focus on each of them learning lessons that generally makes them better people (or ponies).

Those are just my observations, I love em both and hope to see more from season 3.

Season 1 felt a bit more restrained (they did have to abide by many more regulations to get to be official "E/I" or "educational," which was dropped for the second season) and only went so far with the stories. The second season seamed like it took more risks, written with a slightly more adult audience in mind (they had no clue bronies would even exist when creating the first season). Characters developed more, the one off characters were MUCH more interesting (Discord vs. Nightmare Moon, for example) and explored the world that they created.

I hope they learned from the risks that didn't work so well for the third season.

...

WHY CAN'T I HAVE THE THIRD SEASON NOW! D':

I probably like season 1 better, (though its so close I can hardly say for sure), though I still loved season 2.

What I liked about season 1 in comparison to season 2 was how different and exotic Equestria is compared to the real world. I liked the Daring Do episode but the hospital seems too civilized. Mare Do Well's involvement of a dam and a construction site sucked, etc It was nice how the ponies lives were in danger every few episodes, which seems less pronounced in season 2. I've never heard anybody else talk about this so there's probably few people here that share my viewpoint.

I really enjoyed some episodes of season 1, while season 2 has really crappy writing, turning all the characters into unlikable morons like the new Family Guy seasons. In fact, I hate what they've become. It's pretty much the same problem with most comedies these days.

I really liked them both, but I'd give it to season 2, although it doesn't have my favourite ep (23) It has so many great ones, like the finally.

Season 1 had completly solid episodes with the occasional fantastic episode and the worst episodes in the series were nothing less than average.

Season 2 also had alot of solid episodes with experimentation (especially in the animation) also with even more fantastic episodes, however the bad episodes in this season were pretty bad, luckily there were only like 2 or 3.

Both very solid seasons, season 3 has big shoes to fill.

Ugh, how dare you make me choo-, oh, wait, I don't have to. :D -chooses both-

Both seasons were amazing. I'd kinda lean towards Season 2, since it had some really amazing episodes, but then there's a few I'd skip, where as at least with Season 1, I could happily watch it all the way through with no problem.

Do want Season 3. Now. <3

Just want to tell you that your avatar made my day :) I used to love that movie, even though I was a little old for it. One of the reasons I'm glad I have younger siblings....

Anyway, I prefer the first season. I found it more enjoyable when they weren't trying to cater to the bronies. I just thought it was slightly better when they were unaware of their success.
