It's not the gun but the hand behind the gun that matters.

Well, being a paciffist I'd rather have a hug...

But if there were a zombie apocalypse and I was totally and utterly desperate? I'd go for the modern gun, cause practicality should come above aethetics when it comes down to murder.

Assuming we're talking about semi-automatic pistols, I'd go for this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KoalorkaGlock17.jpg
But if machine pistols are allowed, since they are technically modern pistols, I'd have to go with this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MP7A1_REMOV.jpg

I would take a Glock over a revolver any day, might not be as powerful but it reloads faster and is easier

None, cause guns are illegal in Denamrk, and i don't wanna go to prison. In prison they make you toss the salad.

I'm not really a gun person, so I'd go with the modern pistol.
I can fire all over the place and don't have to sit there for 15 minutes reloading.

Modern pistol, better accuracy and all those nice little accessories you can get

Gun Shop Owner: Well, you'll probably want the accessory kit. Holster...
Homer: Oh, yeah.
Gun Shop Owner: ...Bandoleer...
Homer: Baby.
Gun Shop Owner: ...Silencer...
Homer: Mmm-hmm.
Gun Shop Owner: ...Loudener...
Homer: *drools*
Gun Shop Owner: ...Speed cocker...
Homer: Oooh, I like the sound of that!
Gun Shop Owner:...And this is for shooting down police helicopters.
Homer: Oh, I don't need anything like that...yet.

Ha-ha, as soon as I saw this, I thought of this (ok, it's pretty much the same thing but still):

Revolver, more reliable.
If you ever have to use it you want it to work eveytime, and you wont ever need a 16 round clip unless you live in Bosnia or engage in recreational bank heists.

Seconded. they are also easier and cheaper to take care of.

"I see you have an eye for things. Gun's not just about shootin'. It's about reloadin'. You'll see what I mean"- you get a cookie if you know where this is from.

But anyway, I'd buy a revolver because there are:
A. Lots of funny and badass quote you can use
B. Many ways one can look badass with it

If I were getting a gun, I'd be getting it as a carry weapon. That being the case, I'd go with a Sig P226, simply because of its inherent accuracy, its large mag capacity, and the fact that it fits my hand quite nicely.

For target shooting, one of the Glock target models would be a good choice, or perhaps a 1911-based race gun. We shall see.

The point is that unless you're just getting it for plinking, "cool" is never a good reason for a gun.
