I was about 5 in the year 1998. I saw my friend playing starcraft which was rated M (ESRB lowered the rating to teen) I decided to play it and I have been a gamer ever since.I switched over from computer gaming to console game very fast. PC gaming is too hard to keep your system updated.

I just realized I don't think I ever bought more than 1 or 2 E rated games. I always play M games and always will but I dislike swearing and I don't fight at school. Perfect example games don't affect children's social views on life and violence.

I played some games but I never owned a console until I was 10 because my parents thought it was a magical expensive device that only rich kids had.

Then we realized that they weren't.

I became a gamer the moment I got into D&D when I was in middle school or 6th grade. I'm not completely sure.
I never was good with video games but I'm proud to be an RPer.

For me thats going back to Christmas 1994, My parents brought me a Master System with the 8-Bit version of Sonic. They created an unsociable monster that day :)

I was about 2 years old when my mom introduced me to gaming. I remember being really young and putting my face up against the scren of the tv. As best I can deduce, it was to see the rest of the level.

I also remember playing Super Metroid in the conference room where my dad used to work. Sick days were always interesting back then...

I was making some lunch when my brother called me in to play a little game called, "Resident Evil"
I loved it. The atmosphere was intense for me, at 8 years old.
I actually loved it so much i didn't let my brother have it back until around 5 hours later.
For a while it was just Resident Evil, Then I got into more genre's and styles of games.
I played Final Fantasy 7 and loved it. Then Red Faction, and hated it.
I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore gamer, but I certainly have an appreciation for games.
That's all games are meant for anyways. As things to pass time, entertainment. Like a movie or a book, they aren't meant to take up your whole life.

I've been gaming ever since the N64, but the true moment was when I got a PS2. So many games I played on that faithful Christmas day.

For me it was in 2003 just after I completed the 3rd level of Halo: Combat Evolved on Legendary. (Still one of my favourite levels in any games I have ever played to this date.) After dying an innumerable amount of times I found myself thinking. "That...was fucking AWESOME!" Still on my high of fun I develed back whole-heartedly into the game and I haven't looked back since. I still love enjoying a game and I think that on a whole gaming has bettered my life.

When was the moment that everything just clicked and thought dawned on you, "My god I am a gamer."

What game were you playing?

What were thoughts?

What year was it?

Were you happy/depressed at the thought?

Back in 1992 when I finished my Second play through of Sonic 2 on the sega mega drive (genesis) in one day. I was pretty addicted to that game back in the day.

i wish people would read the rules before posting. Posting a useless option with your poll defeats the entire purpose of it. *sighz*
The posting rules for this section actually encourage opinions within polls. My polls falls perfectly within the rules of the forum. You might wanna brush up on the rules again before referencing them next time.

From the rules "Never put up irrelevant options, it's stupid and means that you won't get the results you created the poll for." i was reffering to your "before jesus was born" option.

I've played games for years, but until very recently, I sucked at them. After constant ribbing by my elder, gaming brother (for using cheats, and playing things on easy), I couldn't take it any more, and played through MW2 on Hardened. I was hooked from then, and ended up playing it through on Veteran (Except for that F*****G level where you die at the end, and you have to protect that DSM MacGuffin. I couldn't do that on Veteran. Took me hours to do on Hardened.). Now, I am a genuine gamer, and have been clean from cheats since then (although I used a deep arrowhead map for psychonauts, but there is absolutely NO shame in using stuff like that for ANY form of blasted scavenger hunts  ).

Aladdin. Sim City 2000.

Although a proper gamer probably after Need for Speed 2 and Need for Speed Road Challenge (the best NFS ever).

The good old late 90s, eh....
