Before Jesus was born.

Honestly the first time I ever played a game I fell in love with the whole idea. I am now a gamer-maker in training, play video games in my free time (even not) I sketch concepts of games in class, think about games all the time (even while I'm asleep), and have made sweet, sweet love to a video game.

So yeah I'm a gamer

7 years old playing Tekken 3. That was when gaming became part of my life. And it was Good.

8 years old playing Mortal Combat 4. That was when I realized that gaming was the life for me. And that was Great.

1993, Amiga.

Sat through the introduction of Frontier: Elite 2. That was it.

I was born in 85', and I'd been verging on "Gamer" for years already, playing with the original "Elite". I hardly understood it, I wasn't very good at it, but it consumed every waking hour I didn't spend at school anyway.

For me it's strange as it's something i was born into. My mom would go to work early and sit in the parking lot (while I was still in womb town) and play tetris on the gameboy. The moment I have to say really made me realize I was a gamer was when I had my sega genesis and played sonic the hedgehog 2 (and sonic 2 and knuckles) I realized this was something I would do for the rest of my life.

Though later in my life that realization would come again when I got my dreamcast with sonic adventure.....best days of my life....and i still have that beast

2004 when I got my first GBA. My parents were very protective about gaming so I started doing so at a very late age. :p

When I was 5, My mom bought me a gameboy colour with Pokemon Crystal and Donkey Kong Land III I think. I played pokemon crystal even though I could barely read and i had to remember which moves did damage and which moves were "useless". Still love Pokemon.

I don't remember when exactly, but when i was a very young child i had an NES. I would play Zelda on it all the time, and then Zelda II. I was about 3-4 so i didn't really get anywhere, i just liked playing it. Then i got Super Mario 3, and everything changed...

I couldn't stop playing it, it was just so damn fun! Finding all the secret places for the power-ups and whistles, spending hours running through all the levels just for the fun of it. I honestly couldn't help myself one bit. Then my family moved into a new home and the NES fell out the back of the truck and broke... I was sad...

That following Christmas though, I got a Sega Genesis. Sonic took over where Mario left off, and i guess at this time the rest is history.

So to answer the question of the thread i suppose i have always been a gamer seeing as how i learned to play Zelda (BUT NEVER BEAT IT!) when i was about 3, and don't remember much about my life without video games.

So goes the way of the world I guess.

The Legend of Zelda Orcarina of Time.

I hadn't actually realized it when it happened, but thinking back to it, those were the moments in which I had first truly awoken as a gamer.

Ah, exploring the lands of Hyrule, slaying evil monsters, helping out incompetent townsfolk with their housework, such sweet memories...

It was back in 1998, I was 6 and I watched my neighbor and his friend kick Phantom Ganon's ass on Ocarina of Time. In this moment I became obsessed with video games

When I cried because I left Yoshi's Island at a friends house. In like '95. I played games before but it wasn't until then is when I realized I was hooked.

I knew I was a gamer when my dad came home with a circuit board that could be inserted into the cartridge slot of an Atari 2400. (This is the era when four color graphics was a technological REVOLUTION, and some computer games had no graphics at all (ZORK, anyone?).) The circuit board allowed me to place different games/chips into a slot on its surface. The next day, he took me to work with him, and we spent a few hours writing our choices of games onto dozens of chips. I was the only kid on the block to even HAVE a game console, let alone a library of games.

I also remember playing an actual PONG video game machine in a 7-11. My opponent WAS Jesus, and he kicked my ass.
