I think it's around the time my best friend and I played Sonic 2 for several hours on end, just trying to beat that damn thing.

Poor bugger didn't get to play the last bit of the game. But for me? That was the first achievement I (metaphorically) unlocked in my gaming career.

1990-95

First Console was the Sega Mega Drive, I then had a somewhat decent computer with Wing Commander 3... that was what really started it.

Had my NES or sth like that in the early 90's, but when I got my PS1 in 1999 I guess i became addicted :) Playing MGS, FF8, Gexes and Crocs is an unforgettable experience.

Oh I think Jak and Daxter is what did it for me. After getting that game I started to pay a hole lot more attention to the gaming world ex. being me constantly playing games all day, getting magizines like OPM(Official Playstation Magizine), and really looking for an experiance instead of a time sink.

PS: Great avatar OP

I was 4 years old(1995) playing the Original Quake on my dads knee. I had to make the difficult jumps for him and he gave me the name "jump master." It was then in 2nd grade playing the old Team Fortress that I dubbed myself Chicken Boy. I personally raise chickens and there was that awesome chicken tag, it just stuck. I've always loved video games and in those days had no preference for consoles or PC's.
I Just.Loved.Gaming.

I have to say when I beat OoT around '97, after a year struggling in that game I got to the end to find out the glitch I used fucked me over so I had to start from the beginning nad then went on a full one week epic nerd out after getting to the end I placed the controller down and stared at my hands, at that moment I knew, I knew from that day on I shall be a GAMER FOR LIFE!!!

Hard to say really.

Either 1992-93 ish, when i spent way to many sundays in front of a C64 trying out every game floppy disk in the massive collections of my father and my uncle, or played marathon sessions of Winter Games with my sister.

Or 1994-95 ish, when, through a german "magazine" called Bestseller Games i played through most of the best Lucas Arts Adventures.

Or Christmas 1997, when the best gift i recieved was a one-year subscription of the official PSX Magazine (with Demo Discs)

Being born in 1988, I was just on the outside of the golden age of arcade gaming. I was able to see the border of what must have been a great era of gaming but, I wish I was born 5 to 10 years earlier. I was however, born in time to enjoy the golden age of at-home console gaming. My first console was the Nintendo Entertainment System. As I grew up a bit, I experienced the Atari 2600 at the same time as the Super Nintendo.

Bottom Line before I get too reminiscent: First console = NES. First game = Super Mario Brothers + Duck Hunt

I was about 5 and my babysitter let me play Mortal Kombat and I wanted to become better than him at it, of course it never happened but I loved playing games after that. That was 1992 and I just thought that it was normal to play games with that kind of tenacity...
