Holiday 1997, Diddy Kong Racing and my first N64. I was immediately hooked, and I realized that I found my calling.

And now, nearly 13 years later I haven't looked back.

The moment that I said I was a gamer was when my family and I were going to the movies and as they were heading out I said, "wait, I need to equip my shoes." I was about 11.

yeah, I don't even remember what movie we saw, but my older brother still remembers what I said.

[EDIT]

My brother remembers because I was wearing Jordans, and my brother followed my statement with, "Before traveling further you must equip the Shoes of Jordan." We still talk about it.

I've been through 4 gaming phases that all felt like "first times."

1987. We were allowed to play PC games at school. You can imagine how crappy they were. I mostly remember Papaer Boy, Carmen Sandiego, & Oregon Trail.

1992-1995: (Somewhere around there) is when I played on both a Sega Genesis & an SNES. It was actually a child doctor or dentist that had "Duck Hunt" that made me want to play.

1998-2001" My Next-gen console/Better PC games introduction. My gamer friend Shanna had 3 different consoles & some PC games too. I was introduced to (& subsequently turned-off by) 3D games. I also played my first MMO: Furcadia. I mostly remember playing Goldeneye, Tony Hawk, some funny WWF game, Star Wars games, Heroes of Might & Magic 3 & 4, Sim City 3000 Unlimited, Castlevania, & The Sims. She also had the short-lived Sega Channel.

2005-2007: I finally embrace 3D games, & get addicted to fantasy RPGs. I'm also introduced to "casual games" which are only fun for a short while. The game that got me hooked this time around was when Micheal lent me "Dungeon Siege" for a week.

For me it was when my uncle let my brother and me borrow his Super Nintendo and I got hooked on A Link to the Past. I didn't know it at the time, but the seeds were sown. Many years later when my brother bought an N64 I played a borrowed copy of Ocarina of Time and fell in love all over again. It was the first game I ever bought. I then stole the N64 to take to college and hoarded the TV on the weekends to play, ignoring invitations to social activities. And Twilight Princess was the sole reason I bought a Wii. I've branched out since then, but it all began with Zelda.

Early 90's, probably 93-94 or there about when I got to play Donkey Kong or some such on my neighbors old commodore 64.

When I jumped on that first goomba in Super Mario Bros. I can't vote in the poll though because I'm not sure how old I was at the time and whether it was the late 90's or the early 00's.

Bah, more divisions in years would have made this a more interesting poll. I probably started to game around 1982, but as far as this pull is concerned I might as well have started half that long ago.
Poll has been badly Ninja'd

Battlefield 1942 and Civilization 3 forged me into the gamer I am. So sometime when I was wasting away hours on either of the two I guess I became a "gamer". Also Stronghold Crusader was one of my first games.

After I clocked Alien Breed Tower Assault on the Amiga 500 we had as a kid, I've played games before then, but that was the first I had stuck to and finished, that was back in 1991 I believe.

I was born in 90 and have been playing video games like Mario since I was 2-ish, and been playing heavily since I was 5. So sometime between those years.
