No offense but this is a fail thread since ALL types of fanboys are annoying. Funny you should include franchises in your poll like halo and gears of war, it makes you look very unbiased and you sure look like a nintendo fanboy.
This is about the ones you find extra annoying all of them are annoying and can people try and put the reason e.g over bearing fixations or bad fan fiction. And I put Gow, Cod and Halo on as cause I have X box live these are the most common I hear and first to spring to mind.

Anything wherein which the term "fanatic" can be applied to. Which in this case is EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE OF THEM.

Agreed, it was just curious you narrowed it down to those games. Check these forums (specially the yahtzee videos) and you will see that the mario/zelda conscripts are rampant, follow by the pc and halo fans.

Looks like I'm in the vast minority here, but I'm gonna go with call of duty fans. Yes, all fan boys/girls are annoying when they force their opinions down your throat, but there's something about call of duty that changes people... every one I know who is addicted to that game becomes more and more of an arrogant prick as they start to think of themselves as more and more awesome the longer they play... I don't mean to insult people who play the game, that's just an observation I've made of the people I know who play almost religiously. I can't think of one who doesn't think they're so much better than everyone else because they're good at call of duty, even when they're not even playing the game. I could tell stories, but they're not that interesting, so I wont.

Still, I have to admit a small feeling of glee comes over me when I beat one of said friends repeatedly at smash bros to the point of him storming out of the room because he didn't want to admit he'd lost.

EDIT: I wouldn't class myself as a Nintendo fanboy, I just picked smash bros because that so happened to be the game I was beating him at. Just made this edit to try to hold off the flames for a little longer...

final fantasy fanboys are alright

i like to think in my head that sonic fanboys are godly...

but halo and ps3 fanboys take the cake
and gta fanboys arent great either

The last console generation was a pretty lopsided time of misnomers and missed targets:
The Gamecube had 'party games' written all over it, but the only party games made were Mario Party, and what few other multiplayer games it had were way too high-concept to be marketable (Zelda Four Swords and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles). It ended up being a kids console... a whiny, bratty kids console.
The Playstation2 was the all-rounder, attracting the largest number of casual gamers. Madden and GTA outsold Final Fantasy games, but RPG fans never felt smothered by it. Sony kept the largest and most eclectic library of games, so it was almost fanboy-proof.
Then there's the XBox. One would think that between the kid-friendly 'Cube and the ho-hum average 'Station2, the XBox would become that 'elitist' console, kind of like what the Dreamcast and TurboGrafx were. And while that is technically what happened, the 'elitists' that became the XBox's would-be discerning demographic, turned out to be 18-35 druken male frat-boys who couldn't get enough Halo to save their little passive-aggressive homophobic lives. Before long, any game that wasn't a First Person Shooter with online multiplayer was relegated to the bargain bin. The XBox library is full of one-hit wonders like Brute Force, Xyanide, Gun Valkyrie, Armed and Dangerous, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Otogi just barely managed to get a sequel, and don't even get me started on Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
The XBox had all the marks of greatness: It was a powerful console, it was relatively easy to develop for, it had a solid online component, and it attracted virtually equal numbers of eastern and western developers. Sadly, it just got bogged down by a mediocre majority who wouldn't take chances on unique games.

I find it slightly vindicating that the XBox 360 by contrast has achieved a far wider demographic than its predecessor. Sure, the drunken homophobe frat-bastards are still there, but they're drowned out by everyone else... so long as you stay off voice chat.

Conosle fanboys, now a days most games are going multi platform except for games produced by the company for their console.

EDIT: And matsugawa, I really liked your retrospective of last generations consoles.

I have to say Mario fans. I will never understand why Mario is as big as it is, yet people will defend him to the death

I voted FF fanboys because I've never met any of the others and I hate Tidus. Although, any fanboy who doesn't rationally argue their point in a debate over something relating to their game(s) of choice are also hated

Yep, as I said before they openly mock dedicated Halo fans for being blind sheep then just as quickly lick Gordon Freeman's balls with unquestioned devotion. They think they are better than everyone else and are self righteous snobs.

Console Fanboys -> Almost purely because I'm the polar opposite myself. I especially hate it when they recommend you a game which I've been playing for years which has finally made it onto console.

Yes, because all good games come first on PC. Recommending a game in itself doesn't sound awfully obnoxious to me.
