Nobility and Heroism in war do not come from wielding a sword. They come from protecting innocent people. They come from risking everything to do the right thing. Guns did not remove the nobility and heroism of war, the choice to hurt innocent people and fight for selfish causes removes the heroism and nobility of war. War can still be noble, warriors can still be heroic. It merely requires to choice to risk everything to do the right thing.Mr0llivand3r said:i had a discussion with my friend about the most evil of the human race's creations.
so, in your opinion, what is the most evil invention ever visited upon mankind and why?
Religion did.Kukul said:Communism.
No other invention killed over 100 million people.
I bet Capitalism's killed a lot more indirectly.Kukul said:Communism.

This. Technology and inventions are by their very nature what we humans make of them.Pyre00 said:Don't blame inventions for human nature.
Inventions cannot be evil. Only people can. And oh, we are.
So the death toll in third world countries brought low by Capitalism, sparking war and genocide across huge parts of the world and condemning millions upon millions to poverty and death across the African and Indian continents. Yeah I mean who cares about them they don't matter. I forgot to some people its only the deaths of those in the Western world that are real and the fact that communism is dead and over means its much worse then an evil that continues to persist in our world right now, constantly being supported by countries like America. When history is looked back on in the future I think we will find the scourge of Capitalism to be far worse then the atrocities committed by Communism.Kukul said:You're talking out of your ass. How exactly would that happen? You mean those people, who died due to draconic working conditions and poor healthcare? It was 10 times worse in gulags and additionaly there were mass murders. Also all wars in the last few centuries combined didn't take as much lives as Stalin alone. It looks like you lost the bet.george144 said:I bet Capitalism's killed a lot more indirectly.Kukul said:Communism.

This wins. Guns can have a benevolent purpose, like protecting you from animals. Nukes do not. I voted internal combustion engine. Sports cars killed like 10 times more people in Britain than guns before they were banned.TriggerUnhappy said:Probably the nuclear bomb, because it's too powerful and destructive for anyone to be able to use. The fact that one person can wipe out an entire city with one just shows how dangerous it is. With a gun, you can use it for recreation or even protection from animals. But what other purpose is there for the nuke other than complete destruction? I'm not saying the object itself is evil, but the power it has and the fact that its use could destroy us all definitely puts it high on my list.
