Btw in todays new L4D patch this just got added:

Introduced fatigue to the melee attack in versus mode. You will see a HUD display when your melee swing is cooling down

So melee spamming haters rejoice! And melee spamming lovers start flaming.

I personally want them to have a good look at the damn AI director and make it behave like it's supposed to (as in make it mix things up and make the game interesting and unpredictable) rather than the inchoerant mess it is now (spewing out zombie hordes and special infected on a predictable and, frankly, unfair basis).

It would also be nice for them to add some new weapons to the mix (I was disappointed to discover that there are only six guns in the game when the cover promised ten).

Other improvements would be: the ability to issue basic commands to survivor AI, to ability to save yourself when pounced/constricted, a less diabolical method of enemy placement (seriously, planting witches in front of essential doorways or in narrow hallways is not even vaugely fair or reasonable) and for the way gun turrets work to be revised (as they are their use is considerably limited largely because of their limited aiming arc, which often means that most zombies can't even be hit with it).

I'd really like to see more maps, I love the game but after finishing all the campaigns more than once and playing versus to death it's like...well shit, what do I do now?

People want novelty weapons like flametrowers, grenadelaunchers, chainsaws and Baseball bats...you know the crap you see in your average Zombie movie...I dont think melee weapons or flametrowers would do any good in L4D.

Definitely more maps, I cleared all 4 campaigns in an afternoon and am still hungry for more.
More weapons would be nice as well but the current armaments is well balanced and useful, so its not as high on my list.

They wouldn't. I mean I guess it would be cool, yeah, but I don't understand why people are always whining about it. It's not like having a flame thrower or grenade launcher would affect the gameplay any differently than a molotov or pipe bomb would. And melee weapons? The butt of your gun. It works.

I would like more maps.

While the lack of a story annoyed me at first, I began to realize the genius of it. By leaving it ambigious and haveing only graffiti to go by it leaves a more open interpritation of what actually happened and allows hundred of small narratives to apper. Like a husband trying to find his wife, or an argument over where the zombies originated from, or the proclimation of Chicago Teds awsomness or someone slow decent into madness.

More maps. Or better yet, the SDK.

I never understood why so many people want more weapons. There's plenty as it is, and they're all useful. Maybe its just the Counter-Strike fanboys who want an arsenal more like CSS (i.e. 10 guns that are all slight variations of one another).

Sure it will be cool <.< But face it, every game needs balance. And by adding ie. a flamethrower is like placing the fat kid from the class on a rocker together with someone with a eating dissorder. Unbalancing!

i was thinking at one point that itd be nice if u could play as the special infected if ur doin local split screen or single player, u kno, get some practice in wit the infected

my post is more in regard to the pc version of l4d.

More maps to play in versus mode would be great.
Spectator mode or hltv would be awesome.
The brief pause before a boomer is allowed to puke should not be in, that's just stupid.
Flaming Hunter damage was fine before they reduced it, I don't understand why they reduced it. First they reduced slash damage then they reduced the flame damage, they're trying to make the hunter useless.

You know what bothers me about the premise of this? There is some overlap.

Look, necromango, sgtshock, and plenty of others are right: if Valve really wants to make L4D the absolute second coming of DOOM, they need to release the SDK: there are so many geeks out there who would virtually exile themselves from society to create a ton of additional content for this game, and Valve wouldn't have to spend a STINKING DOLLAR; that alone makes it almost retarded that they didn't ship the SDK WITH the intial release.

I myself have ideas for at least 6 campaigns based loosely upon the awesome book 'World War Z' by Max Brooks.

Where I wholeheartedly agree with more campaign maps 2 hours is to long for this type of game. Getting 4 people in the age of A.D.D. to sit down for 2 hours and play together is damn near an impossibility.

My vote is for the top 4. The rest are unneeded (well maybe 4 player splitscreen but I don't know how many would really use that)
