Having watched the clip (and it wasn't easy... not only did the topic make me want to destroy all nearby walls, but that woman's voice could've done the job for me) I have to say that it didn't look like the entire cast agreed with the study. A couple of them did, but the others seemed to be using sarcasm and inflating the logic behind the study (like the comments about knitting sweaters and churning butter).

I think what irritates me the most is just how lightly and laughingly they were treating it. Seriously, Fred Rogers was an American institution (there's a rumor that his car was stolen one night, only to be returned the next day in perfect condition with a note on the steering wheel- "We didn't know it was yours") who deserves a lot more respect than that. The man worked tirelessly for more than four decades to bring his comforting, gentle brand of education to children wherever he could. How about we stand up for the man now that he's no longer here to speak in his own defense?

As much as some like to belittle the overly touchy-feely liberal approach of "everyone's a winner", there's no more value in the opposite view of rating everyone solely by the money they have. That would escalate Paris Hilton over Mother Theresa, and I want nothing to do with a species that could even consider that.

Oh come one just because Fox said it you're all flipping out when for years people have been saying he's creepy, he's a pedophile, and "hello neighbor" was the evilest phrase. Get off Fox people and start realizing the hypocrisy on you all
Are you fucking kidding me? Mr.Rogers wasn't a creepy pedo, he was a nice old man.

Regardless, Fox are still bastards.

Bullshit. You're just trying to be an edgy young american reject and it's boring.
I love how you have the magic ability to profile me based on the words "Um no it's not..."
I bow to your amazing ability of clairvoyance. No doubt you've seen the world in all its glorious similarity to the USA and noticed perceptively that it's exactly the same everywhere you go; never you mind that made up diversity BS.
Your just trying to be an edgy young troll and it's boring.

Other countries don't have people who believe they are superior to the generation after them? Other countries don't criticize others and feel that a generation after them were getting babied? I really doubt that.

do you project this hard as a hobby or profession? The only people present in this conversation are you and the bridge your trolling under.

When you post a stupid comment like "The rest of the world is just the same" and have someone reply no it's not, which by the way is inherently true, the proper response is not to yell angry things at them but better define your argument. You should have said "Propaganda and sensationalist news stories are certainly not exclusive to america" or "Some of the world is just as bad or worse than the USA in matters like this" and then you could either back up your argument or leave it for someone to respond to, and like an intelligent being you could then discuss. However, this is not what you have done. You have instead lashed out angrily because people responded to an ill defined and poorly written comment, and you expected them to see into your head with the same clairvoyant super powers you used to find out I was "an edgy young american reject". I'm sorry we weren't all born exposed to the large amounts of toxic waste and sewage it took to create you.

No. No, no, no and NO.

Mr. Rogers is the kindest, nicest, most fatherly person to ever appear on TV. For Fox to do this shows just how low they're willing to go.

Oh no, a guy off a TV show told children that they're special! How evil. This must of been a really, really slow news day.

Fox should just end it all. Does anyone really care what they say anymore? Seriously i think they're just trying to see how far and powerful their reach is. I'd like to think it's non-existent, but everytime I look in the obituaries, I hear of their new exploits via Daily Show and Colbert Report... And then i cry.
FOX murdered the Daily Show and the Colbert Report?

I'm not sure you know what obituaries are.
I think you misinterpreted what i said. I was implying that I look in the obituaries to hear of Fox's death WHILE listening to the daily show and Colbert Report.

Just wow. What do you think Escapist? Is Mr.Rogers Evil?
I think the real question you need to be asking yourself here is - why are you entertaining the possibility that something you see on Fox actually matters? The station is notoriously biased in favour of some very strange ideas. Ass soon as you see that FOX logo you really don't need to keep watching to find out what comes out of the mouths of the presenters, because it's always going to be the same kind of thing.

Of course it rates highly, for the same reason that shock-jock radio personalities rate highly - controversial, dumb opinions wind people up to the point where they can't turn away because they are so angry. The solution is to turn it off - forever. The only way to win is to not play the game.

I am by no means a religious man but i think Mr. Rogers was as close as you can get to a real life Jesus. He is the definition of all that we should aspire to be as individuals. Just a truly genuine man. When he passed away I felt like I had lost a friend a father and a neighbor. God bless ya Mr. Rogers.

Fox,go blow yourselves...Oh wait you have been for the longest time,my bad.

Jesus did come back to us... but his message of love, hope, and understanding was drown out by Captain America and the conservative "red scare".

Jesus has given up on us...

Oh my GOD!

I'm sorry, this is just... *waits for American Mothers to freak out*

But seriously... Has it come to the point where things in USA is so bad that they have to blame friggin Mr. Rogers for the country going to shits? Holy crap! Whats next? Seriously, we have some discussion value here; who/what will the media/government blame next?
Exactly! Because Fox and Friends is the opinion of the entire country! We also love exclamation points! We are hive mind country here! We are currently working to build a consensus!

Consensus complete!

OT: There is some validity to what they are saying, to specify that this culture of entitlement is completely the problem of Mister Rodgers, or even as much of a problem is lunacy. What little you will find is the result of mob rule, and paperback psychology books, I doubt you are even going to find many kids screwed up by it in the long term. It's sink or swim time once hit the real world.

It's true, kids feel entitled. Blame the schools that tell you that everyone should be on the same level, regardless of talent.

However, Mr. Rodgers is not a evil man. He's just a kids' show star. I doubt that he would walk off the set cackling to himself...
