I hate to give the people over at Fox credit, but it's still amazing to me how many forum-goers come on here claiming to be oh-so intelidgent and yet only read the title of the post before rationalizing. If you pay attention you can clearly see that even they don't buy it and are poking fun at the notion of Mr. Rogers, the friendly neighbor he is, being evil.

Oh my GOD!

I'm sorry, this is just... *waits for American Mothers to freak out*

But seriously... Has it come to the point where things in USA is so bad that they have to blame friggin Mr. Rogers for the country going to shits? Holy crap! Whats next? Seriously, we have some discussion value here; who/what will the media/government blame next?
No stop lumping things in America with FOX nobody cares what they have to say only extremely conservative parents. Dont get your vision of America through FOX there full of crap.

I....I dont know what to say. I loved Mr. Rodgers, he was great. I just can't believe fox is saying this. I mean i thought i hated them before with the whole Mass Effect thing. But they just went too far.

There are a lot of children for whom Mr. Rogers was the closest thing to a nurturing influence in their life. This idea is asinine, and those who advance it beneath contempt.

I'd never heard of him until I clicked that link, but it just sounds like the reporter is pissed because he really did believe he was special when clearly he's a useless twat.

Wow, I couldn't watch more than a minute of that.

Sure, Mr. Rogers is evil because he boosts kids self esteem (making them not listen to people like Fox News ironically).

Because I have lived MY entire life based on what someone on TV has said....

If you get into college and expect to get an A because "your special" that is a failure on your parents, not Mr. Rogers.

Honestly, it sounded like all of them were speaking with a little tongue-in-cheek. And I blame the self-esteem protection and inflation trend that has been steadily increasing in the public schools over the last couple decades. You don't build up self-esteem by removing rewards for excellence and artificially holding everyone at the same level, you do it by recognizing excellence, skill and talent and creating an environment that encourages competition and helps people to find what they are good at and rewards them for pursuing excellence in that.

Fox is not a legit new source. It's about as legit as The Onion but with a much smaller sense of humor.
CBS, MS/NBC, ABC and CNN are no more legit than Fox. News is a report on what has happened without bias, when you are told what happened and then how the person feels or what they think about it then it is commentary. Differentiate between the two forms before disqualifying a channel out of hand. All of the "News channels" host a mix of news shows and commentary shows and the inclusion of commentary shows which disagree with your own opinions in the channel lineup does not negate or inflate the legitimacy of the news presented in the news shows.

Uh, I thought it was illegal to diss Mr Rogers in America?

Anywho, we have plenty of kids over here with exactly the same problems without having even heard of Mister Rogers, and I bet that kids who came after Mr Rogers in America still have the same problems, and I'd even put money on people who came before Mr Rogers having the same problems, so in the end, this be ass-talking boys and girls. Ignore Fox News as you would ignore any other troll.

Ummmm, yeah sure Mr. Rogers is to blame for all the spoiled self-entitled youth out there today. He was totally the guy saying you don't have to work hard at anything because you're unique and deserve to just get things you don't deserve. Thats endemic in all of North America and has little to do with mr. Rogers.

They are actually right though in one regard. Self entitled students are a huge pain in the ass and need to grow up in a drastic way.

Someone on the panel actually brought this up, although it was quickly and swiftly ignored:
"Why don't we blame the parents?"

DING! DING! MOTHERFUCKING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!

Alright then, when I have kids I'll tell them that they're not special, then I'll send in a tape of my kid crying to Fox and they can tell me what to do next.
Because that's all a child needs when they're young and vulnerable - a nice kick in the face and told to face the real world.
For goodness' sake Fox.

I never watched Mr. Rogers as a kid , and my life turned out to suck hard. Probably should have watched more TV when I was six.

So according to them Mr. Rodgers should have said: Your worthless unless you spend your whole life in submisive penitents to athourity, and you must work in a soul crushing white collar job, only to have your highest acclaim be your salary and trophy wife. Then your special.
