I have never been mugged before, but one day as I was getting off the bus, this feral kid said to me "Oi give me your iPod." I could tell he wasn't being serious because he was still leaning back basically lying down in his chair. I told him No and then he said "Hahaha yeah that's alright, we don't rob little kids anyway" (He was only a couple years older than me).

It's funny because the next day, him and his feral friends mugged a kid from my school who was the same age as me and stole his phone.

I hope that in the event i was mugged i would spontaneously shoot flares and chaff out every orifice from my body like an F-14 tomcat evading a missle.

But seriously i hope to be able to react in a fight rather then flight manner. Its why ive wanted to take some Krav Maga i believe my mind is calm enough that i wont panic but im not agile enough in a fight. When it come to flight ima fuckin gazzele

I was cycling late at night coming home from work, and three teenagers blocked my path and demanded my bike. I invited them to try to take it. They called me a fag and walked away. I was a little disappointed, I was much bigger than them and was curious if one big guy could hold his own against 3 small thugs.

I investigate about half a dozen muggings in a week.

The best tip I can give is to carry a false wallet. One with about 5 bucks in it and a couple of fake credit cards. Maybe an old student ID give this to the muggers cause few look closely until they're in their hideout.

Anyhoo when I was 16 I was mugged in Chicago. (pegged for a tourist) thing was me and my twin brother were sitting on a park bench so the mugger didn't realize that we were both 6'6" until we stood up. Which is funny cause we had our hands up and everything we were both going to give him our wallets cause he said he had a gun.
Our stature a good 3/4 foot more than him freaked him out and he ran off. Seemed like he was just a junkie.

Well the most recent time was 3 years ago and i was on the train (Chicago by the way) and I was a freshman in high school then coming home from wrestling practice. I was sitting next to a window (big mistake I know) and this one kid said give me your money. Ive always been a big metal head and I promised myself never to take crap from anyone so I quietly paused my cd player and used the move called "the butcher" and the kid was on the ground crying and I ran to the front of the train and reported the kid and went home at my stop.

There was a time I was nearly kidnapped just before halloween last year. I was a block from my house and I was thrashing to some Manowar and this guy first tried to steal my CHAIN wallet which i keep the chain in my pocket for these situations. He then pulled out my wallet and i felt the tug of the chain so i turned around and kicked his bike and he fell. Then a block later some guy tried to grab me and put me in his car. Which I ran around the block twice and jumped the fence of my yard and got down in the shadows till I knew he was gone.

How to avoid being mugged

2) Cardio, Jogging, Sprinting, Jumping are essential skills
3) Don't walk into dark alleyways
4) Up your charm stats
these are all excellent skills to know. Especially jogging and the jumping. But you must learn to put these two together to run and jump a chain link fence (standard size of course) and not break stride or do a jump and flip over a taller chain link fence. Also you should learn to climb over the iron fences and always ALWAYS keep shoe laces inside your shoe so their not cought on the tips and wear relatively tight closes. some bagginess in jeans is ok but over excessive bagginess and your screwed.

Never I don't live in that sort of area, otherwise I have a bad temper anyway so I would probably react violently I doubt I would be successful but its not the winning it's the taking part that counts.

Unless they had a gun In which case I would give them whatever they wanted

Well this isnt a mugging but there was a fight at my school, now two of my best friends who are gamers and so are the unpopulars but they are also metal heads (hence making us aggresive) and someone jumped one of them while they were watching the fight. My other friend grabbed him and threw his ass a couple meters (I'm Australian and I use the Metric system, deal with it) and then the first friend got hit in the back, he span around and clotheslined the guy.

Epic.

I've been sortof mugged once, it went liek this.

I was walking home form a bar, with a friend, and i was kidan drunk.
We're walking past 6 guys, one of them tries to push me over with his shoulder against my shoulder, i'm 110% sure he didn't just bumb into me by accident.
I just walk on while saying "oh go suck yourself off"
I walk about 4 paces before someone yells "what teh fuck did you just say?"
I turn around and is instantly puched repeatedly in the face.
So one dude is smackinbg up my face, and teh otehr apaprently thinks he's bruce lee, but fails hirribly by kicking my butt, yeah okay dude, i sit on that every day, it can handle some preassure.
Then one of the burts out "you gotta give us yoru money"
I responded no, i gotta go home, and walks away.
From when i started getting hit, my friend, who was less drunk tried tell them that i was drunk, and they should leave me, to stop the whole thing.

I don't think their initital plan was to mug me, but just to provoke me so they could start a fight, which they sadly, due to to me beeing to drunk to watch my mouth, succeded in.
I'm actually pretty glad, that i wasn't stupid enought o put up a figth, cause there were six of them, and theys eemed like the kind of guys who we're used to beating peopel up. And i was there with one friend, so we owuld prolly have ended up getting both of our asses kicked if we had tried to fight, and i would feel very sorry if my friend got beat up cause of me acting stupid.

I'm now training martial arts to not end up in a situation like that again, and I also know not to talk shit back to people even if they deserve it.

I've never been mugged, probably because I apparently look fairly intimidating. A lot of women (mainly mates' girlfriends who have been forced to hang around me) have told me that they've been sort of scared of me at first, but the impression has quickly faded away, once they got to know me.

Just today, I was coming out of a shop a few hours ago, I saw a guy shiftily looking around, with a black hood over his head, squatting down behind a pillar, obviously trying to stay out of sight. I was tired, so my high-brow sense of humor kicked in, and I chuckled inside, as to me it looked like he was about to take a dump on the floor.
I sort of stopped to investigate, only to humor myself, but the guy immediately noticed me, and jumped up from his awkward crouching position. I thought I'd just keep staring at him, and see what he does. He kinda panicked, and then shuffled away into the store, giving me one last fearful gaze while he was almost running away.. and I only wanted to see him do number two.. But I digress.

I'd probably be a really easy mug. I'd curl up in a ball on the ground, crying for the mugger to leave. I've only ever been in a fight once, and that was eleven years ago, I think I was twelve. My life's been pretty free of conflict as a whole.

I've never been mugged, but if an attempt would be made, my greatest wish is to have a telescopic baton or pocket-blade on me at the time. Preferrably the former. That would be satisfying.

I've never actually been mugged, maybe because I have a "Sylar Look"*,or so I've been told.

I was a target of a motorcycle snatch thief once though. He rode up and grabbed my backpack, but he misjudged how heavy it was and how tight a grip I had on it, so he let go once he realized he would have fallen off if he kept holding it. I was yanked off my feet and got a face full of road but I kept my backpack.

Never been mugged. I got randomly head-butted and punched in the face by the cliché combo of little-cocky-kid and huge-big-friend. The little one headbutted the side of my head while walking past, I assume. I never actually saw what he did out the corner of my eye. I was so shocked it didn't hurt and when I turned around to look at him, the big guy said "What are you looking at?" Then immediately punched me in the cheek while I was still trying to get my bearings. Only reason the two didn't pound me into giblets was my girlfriend at the time, who started screaming and ran in front of me.

Needless to say, I was more ashamed of the fact that I didn't defend myself and my girlfriend had to step in for me. One of the reasons I've become more aggressive and fitness-orientated recently.

I don't know if it was a mugging I stepped out of a pub late at night after collecting some money I was owed stone cold sober, I was pretty sure no one saw me collect the money but 1 block up the road a guy ran up on me and struck me with his elbow in the face, he was followed by 2 accomplices, I was literally in a melee in seconds, with the 1st guy in a head lock as I gouged his eyes and his 2 mates raining blows on me, suddenly all 4 of us were on the ground and the biggest off duty cop I've ever seen had flattened all three of them. Apparently he was walking the other way and saw the whole thing. I've respected cops ever since.

My response tends to be a combination of aggressive and run away; take control of the situation, shove, throw, punch and otherwise create distance between myself and the aggressor and make sure s/he is on the ground or distracted/stunned. Back off quickly, keeping ready and facing her/him. When it looks like I have a clear shot at getting away, I run. No reason to stay around, someone (including me) might get hurt.

And yes, I've been mugged once (I did get away after a while) and once been the victim of attempted armed robbery (with a knife). Both cases followed that abovementioned MO.

Someone tried to mug me, but made a real mess of it.

He said he had a knife, but looked really unconvicing, so I called him on it, and when he failed to produce it I called him a prick and walked to a friends nearby.

He is now doing time for that and a number of other offences.

Downtown at t3 in the morning. Don't worry, it wasn't anything serious. Just some guys trying to make a quick buck. I think they were more scared than I was.

I've myself have never been mugged and I can't really explain how I would react because what you'd think you would do and what you'd actually do can be two very different things. That and their are different types of muggings.
