*Sigh* Excuse the upcoming mandatory Yahtzee-channeling: "So, I felt the need to dribble out a few qualifying statements". Of course, I'll either make a lot of sense or none at all, and even in a best-case scenario I doubt I can change anyone's mind.
1. I'm turning 18 in a couple of days, so yes, I fall into whatever arbitrary demographics you people might try and base your opinions out from.
2.I barely ever listen to MCR, haven't in half a year now. I prefer Rob Zombie, John 5, Alice Cooper, Rammstein, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Iron Maiden, The Offspring, Smash Mouth, Bowling For Soup and Green Day (and if you're gonna complain that Green Day isn't "real music" or that it is "faggy" then kindly f*** off).
3. Pertaining to point 2, I still have a lot of previous listening experiences to refer to regarding MCR.
4. If you are going to insist that Queensryche/Rush/Generic shitty metal band that is ridiculously overhyped are better than MCR for no bloody reason, you might as well disregard this post.
5. When I say "prejudices" I mean stuff like "those emo fags should stop cutting themselves and make some music with BALL!!!!!!!" and the likes, especially if it comes from someone who hasn't heard more than one song. I'd like to quote a philosophy regarding music a friend told me: You should hear at least three songs (preferrably three from each album, to see if they've gone through major experimentation/style changes).
6. Actually listen to the lyrics before making any comment, please. A little bit of context can help change a lot. For example, The Black Parade is actually a rock opera like American Idiot, and tells a story of a man who lived a life filled with sin and the album is a look into what he remembers of his past after death (what, you didn't think the titles were relevant to anything? Like DEAD! for example?). Might explain why the album sounded a tad bit "whiny".
7. I will actually listen to good points and admit that I am wrong if that is the case (Seems unnecessary to say, but heck, why not)
). Alright, yes, I admit that I am soon 18 and I have already "grown out of" MCR, yet it is still pretty good music. I am also fully aware that a band's image is there for people to know what kind of music is played, but lumping all music that sounds sort of like eachother together and applying the same image to them is not something I approve of.
Also, what kind of music are you referring to? I am very curious to find out. I'd be happy to give it a try, because to me it does not matter if it's mainstream or not, I listen to what I think sounds good. Alas, this is already a long-winded rant, better end it.

As far as Green Day goes... Well the American Idiot album was decent enough, but all the stuff before that album I can heard before from the Sex Pistols and the Clash. His super soaker and paper gun were fun. You know what I find the most interesting about Greenday? The 4 musicians that are behind them doing most of the playing while they run around on stage.
But thats just me.
