Today i had the "opportunity" to listen to modern day music (on reflection, i was forced into it) and what was experienced has forever scarred me and has deepened my hate for greed.
What i'm talking about is todays music, sure you could call some of the new artists talented, but only if you like eating through a tube.
What happened to the 80s, sure people wanted to be in bands to haul in some cash but atleast they faded away quickly because heroin was still obtainable which kept out all of the people who had no real friends/fans. What happened to buckling down, writing music, trying to make what you're playing sound good? Where the fuck did all the talent go? Im starting to blame pro tools and girls who like the emo/hardcore image and pretty boys who cant take a punch to the face.
I, for some reason beyond understanding, was not raised in the 80s but after the age of 7 i refused to listen to music that was brought to me by the tv or the radio, only I would choose what id even listen to and i then raised myself in the 80s by listening to nothing but the golden age of metal
Prime example, 80s metal.

After these last two videos, you may be asking "Why must you make me listen to this? What the fuck have I ever done to you?" Well please endure this last video to kick you swiftly in the nuts and say, "there's more, ****."

By now you've probably opened up itunes and are now in the secure domains of your own music.
My question to you is, have you felt metal has become boring now? Does there need to be another jimmi hendrix to redefine the fine arts of music? Another metallica to start up a genre? Another Megadeth to refine it?
Metal, like /b/, was never good.
But I gotta say one thing in its defense:
Unlike that shit they play at raves, at least metal's made with real instruments.
If you want good music, listen to stuff that doesn't rely exclusively on "br00tul" solos to keep its fanbase. I recommend electroclash, darkwave, funk, and cabaret.

Nothing to do with "talent" either, all the bands seem more or less equally talented and the whole concept of "talent" in music has been outmoded ever since the birth of punk in the late 70s proved that you didn't need to be a music expert to write great songs that people liked.
This may be difficult for you to grasp, but writing an authentic punk song that's actually catchy is much harder than just playing pentatonic or diminished scales really fast, like every metal band since the birth of the genre has done.
Punk was never about technique, and "technique" is not the same thing as "talent", nor is it an adequate substitute for actual songwriting ability.

TC needs to listen to more Gojira, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me and Mastodon.
Dude, Opeth sucks even worse than anything he posted. That's why nobody but the metalheads actually listens to them.
