Go to that bakery, ask the guy on the counter if you can speak to his boss. When she comes out, mention the GREAT job you just got and how you're so glad you got the fuck out. Then laugh in her face.

Sounds like a great set up for a lawsuit for wrongful termination.

Or....

thats always an option...

If only this was a Subaway. Then you could have ordered her to make you a sammich and any retaliation would alienate any other customers in the store.

There's some sort of agency you could bring this up to. Considering that it is illegal discrimination, I advise you do so.
She has like 3 other male workers but they are so scared of being fired over little stuff that they won't speak up. There is also the reverse sexism thing like how if a man beats his wife he is bad and gets arrested but if a wife beats her husband even if he is disabled and can't fight back he is considered a pussy and the cops won't help.
That's not reverse sexism, that's just plain old sexism. I have no idea what reverse sexism would be, gender tolerance maybe?

Sue her for sexism and unfair dismissal if you ask me. If someone did that to me I'd be dropping the Ban Hammer on them left, right and center.

In a unrelated case: Where's my muffin?
Yeah, if she fired you when she didn't fire somebody she was treating better and was making much bigger mistakes, that is defiently an easy lawsuit.

On an unrelated note, I am falling in love with this muffin!

Om nom nom nom nom.

That's why its important to charge this sort of thing. Nobody cares about it, it needs to be brought into the public eye.

Well you are obviously going seem like you are in the right since you are only providing us with your point of view. From her perspective, there might have been a whole load of stuff you were doing wrong she never mentioned. But seriously yeah, she sounds like a ***** alright. I am not even sure she has grounds to fire you, you would take it to the small claims court or something. You can't just fire someone because you don't like them, there has to be a solid legitimate reason, and warning must be given as well.

Yep you could report her. I don't know where you live but around these parts we have a thing called the Better Business Bereau where you can report people that pull stunts like that.

It sucks getting fired but from your description you sound like you are more than capable and the one good thing about the restaurant industry is that there are always jobs - Apply at some hotels, bakeries or restaurants with pastry departments.

Hotels are usually great about hiring and training and often offer apprenticeships.

If you're not lying to gain sympathy, you can seriously sue her and get a lot money+maybe your job back. This is blatant sexism the way you describe it.

The only warning I ever received was "I don't think your cut out for this job" she didn't say I was making mistakes and even she admitted I was a hard worker.

Time to bring suit against her, sounds like. Unless you live in some backwards state, you cannot be fired because of your gender or sexual orientation. You have ample circumstantial evidence that goes to attitude suggesting this woman is sexist against men.

From the description given, yes she is being sexist and a bit of a *****, and I would have voted for that.. But you gave a muffin option, I'm surprised anyone selected anything but muffins :)

Well if that's the complete story, then I would advise you to sue her for sexism! Then make us all muffins!
