Alright, so I apparently hit my head rather hard on the concrete a few days ago, as I now embark on a rather pointless and trivial quest. This saturday, when I'm off work, I'm going to walk around downtown Charlotte wearing a sign that says "Free Hugs". I've always wanted to know whether or not people'd take me up on my offer.

Question being, if you saw someone standing on the sidewalk, with a sign that said "Free Hugs", would you take one? Why/Why Not?

Also, refer to the poll if you so desire.
My sister did this. She was fairly successful, though she managed to spell hugs wrong (Kid and their phone dictionaries...)

But yeah, sister's a girl, and I rolled my eyes at her plan. But I applaud you for doing it, though you should probably pick a location where a lot of people come through who are in a good mood, otherwise you won't get far.

Good luck to you.

If the person was attractive and female then fuck yes.

Otherwise, I'd laugh at them for being pathetic.

No offense...

Before you do that you should check and make sure there aren't any horrible and infamous criminals called or nicknamed "Hugs" imprisoned in North Carolina.

Imagine if there was a confessed child rapist and murderer who called himself "Mr. Hugs" and had just been sent down for life... people may get the wrong idea.

I would hug you if you didn't give the appearance of wanting to steal my money/convert me to a religion/grope me.

Uhm, no hugs.

If I wouldn't normally hug you, I'm certainly not going to touch you just because there is a sign around your neck. I think its a desperate, kinda creepy ploy. Not that YOU are desperate and kinda creepy, but there is the conveyance.

I might poke you with a stick though.
Heh. No worries. In a way, it's sort of an experiment, dealing with trust. Obviously I could just be hugging someone because I'm mentally retarded, and doing so makes me feel good, I could be doing it just for the hell of it, or you might walk away and discover your wallet's missing. It's what leads many people to simply walk right by the guy, well, that and fear of disease spread through contact.

I do admit it would be absolutely hilarious for someone to poke me with a stick though.

I'm pretty damn huggy nowadays. If someone has a sign or t-shirt proclaiming free hugs, they're getting a hug.

If I were even vaguely likely to be in the same area as OP, hugging would be involved.

I did this at uni for a few hours last semester. I got a huge number of hugs, though my friend who is a fairly attractive girl got alot more. At one stage she had a line of people who wanted to hug her.

Depends on the person. If they look like they'll give me some disease or murder me, probably not, but if it's just a guy (or girl, except those rules apply for her too) then probably.

I'm not sure. It'd depend on my mood as to whether or not I would partake in your offer of free huggles. It is a rather tempting offer though.

Depends on how you present yourself, but in most cases I would not. I never even hug people close to me.
