I think you should, it can really brighten someones day. And recording it would be interesting to see as well.

As for as what I would do if aproached by the person, then no I wouldnt. I am not good with physical contact, I can abide it but it really makes me shiver internaly. Especially if I dont know you.

Actually.. in my first weeks of university, thanks to a mix of initiation and living with five persons, I spent a whole day with a robot suit made of aluminum and empty beer boxes, having an helmet with a reversed hanger sporting the message "HUG ME". I also had a red heart over my suit to make people who hugged me sign it... not that successful since they needed to come to me, and all I was allowed to do to provoke the hug was open my arms. I still got my free car drives for actually doing it though. I think I had around... 10 signatures.

Would I give or take a random hug? probably, not sure. I mean, in this generation it seems rather odd and possibly suspicious. Should you do it? well, unless some maniac stabs you while he/she hugs you, or it is somehow illegal, what's to lose?

P.S. aluminum covered box as an helmet gets hot in the sun, just an F.Y.I.

Depends on the person. Hot girl, definetely. Sweaty fat guy? Not so much.
This. As rude as it seems, it's just how things work in my head. My friend did this one summer also. She seemed to enjoy it. She got a lot of hugs with it being the town festival and the busiest time of the here in my area.

Wait, I just noticed the word "quest" in the word "question", my mind is being blown for some reason...

OT: Well now that you told us it's you, yes, otherwise, no. Because that's creepy.

No, I am (along with a lot of people here) sort of a recluse and do not feel comfortable touching strangers in any way.

That's right, even hot girls.

All in favor for the title to be changed to include the word "QUESTion"?

Alright, so I apparently hit my head rather hard on the concrete a few days ago, as I now embark on a rather pointless and trivial quest. This saturday, when I'm off work, I'm going to walk around downtown Charlotte wearing a sign that says "Free Hugs". I've always wanted to know whether or not people'd take me up on my offer.

Question being, if you saw someone standing on the sidewalk, with a sign that said "Free Hugs", would you take one? Why/Why Not?

Also, refer to the poll if you so desire.
I would give that person a big hug, possibly from behind! :D
I'm going to go ahead and take that in an extremely sexual manner. Bow chicka wow wow and all that.

I'm not picking on you, but I do have a question to those who have quoted me-is it really that shallow/rude/horrible to want to touch someone physically attractive but not someone you find gross? We're not talking marriage or friendship, we're talking random hug on the street. And it's not like I'm gonna walk up to fat 'n' sweaty and say,"HOLY FUCK YOU'RE NASTY!" Just sayin'
In my opinion, doesn't really matter. I mean, it's not like you're choosing to hug your mother or something based on appearance, although that'd be really weird. It's just some random Joe or Jane on the street, you have no emotional connection whatsoever to that person and therefore no obligation.

Aww shucks, I'm special! I've always thought of you sick fucks as family anyhow.

People do that in dublin relativly frequently, sometimes dressed up like giant teddy bears.
My answer: If you have an opportunity to hug a giant teddy bear for free what sane man would turn it down.

There were lots of girls wearing signs that said "FREE HUGS" at the anime convention I went to in June. Yes, I gave them hugs. And they were very happy to get a hug from Link (that's who I was dressed as).

Seriously, who doesn't love free hugs?

Yes, unless they were gross. Or, I would go home and make a sign that said "premium hugs-$2" wear it, and then stand next to you on the street. I guarantee you people will give me more hugs then you, it's called artificial scarcity marketing, and it's amazing.

You know, I outta ask the missus to do that, as at least in my opinion she's extremely attractive, and people might be willing to pay for that. I'd have to watch though, and make sure a hug is all she's getting.

If you really wanted to be an asshole, you'd put under Premium Hugs "Guaranteed not to give you AIDS!"

Really depends on my mood. If i have a good day, probably yes. If the situation is fun, probably even if im feelin down, could change it.
I remember a summerday when i was in a shop and it began to rain terribly, after a while a girl entered completely drenched. I looked at her with a mixture of pity and amusement and she just smiled , spread her arms and said "hug?" i had to laugh, went for it and the front of my clothes looked like i fell into a puddle, but the day was saved.
