Go for it. Who doesn't love free hugs? I know I love them. Although, I personally wouldn't walk around with a "Free Hugs" sign. I'd be way too nervous and shy to do so.

Alright, sorry that I took forever with updating this. I kinda forgot about it.
So, brought the missus along as well, had her record the whole deal, which should be up on Youtube shortly. She even took a turn with the sign herself.
Total tally
Slain: 53 hugs, 4 high fives, one woman slapped my ass. [4 hours]
Sarah: 12 hugs and a handshake [1 hour]
Memorable moments
A woman walked by, stopped about two feet after passing me, walked back, stared at the sign for a good 30 seconds or so, and then broke into tears and accepted the hug. She then said "You have no idea how much I needed that" and walked away. I felt pretty damn good about myself for the rest of the day.
A woman walked by, stared, grabbed the crucifix around her neck, and denounced me as Satan. Yes, it was recorded.
The aftermentioned ass slapping.
I got a high five from a mime.
