As weird as this sounds, I can't see that being the case. 90% of DS and GB games had almost no plot and were pretty much just casual games, as far as I have seen this has been greatly improved with the 3DS. I understand its just the release titles but I remain an optimist. As far as motion controls go, rather or not it becomes a permanent thing for gaming has yet to be seen, and looking at nintendo's sales and the addition of the kinect and move it just might be, and nintendo has made attempts to improve there motion controls with Wii Motion Plus.Phoenix_XIII said:I want advancement, but maybe they should've spent more time working on the motion controls. 3D's been around for about 30 years and has made only really just one or two advancements. I hate 3D movies because they focus on the 3D aspect instead of the actual film. I'm worried that'll happen with the games too.TeeBs said:Nintendo gives you Motion Controls and 3D. sorry.
It's pretty hard to blame the failure of media on it being in 3D at this point. Most of the time it's a relatively cheap thing to do, so it's not as though it detracts too much from the time and budget. The worst you can really say is that putting low-budget things in 3D might make execs more willing to greenlight otherwise unreasonable projects. If Friday the 13th 3D was bad, it would have been bad without the 3D or very likely wouldn't have been made at all without the 3D - the 3D wasn't somehow "holding it back".Phoenix_XIII said:I think the only reason I mentioned it was because of my personal vendetta with 3D in everything. Yes, it can play 3D, but that's not much of a gimmick compared to something like the Wii. Virtually any game can easily take advantage of the 3D capability.
And then there's the bigger issue. The 3DS is, in addition to a handheld with 3D, also just the next DS generation. It's just a more powerful handheld. Given that you can turn off the 3D and there are very few situations in which it's actually needed or used as a gameplay device, it seems abundantly silly to compare it to something like the Wii.

I heard Yahtzee say that the Wii Motion Plus didn't help too much...TeeBs said:As weird as this sounds, I can't see that being the case. 90% of DS and GB games had almost no plot and were pretty much just casual games, as far as I have seen this has been greatly improved with the 3DS. Hm. I'll have to check Xenoblade out then.Imsmarterthanyou said:November 2007.Phoenix_XIII said:When was Radiant Dawn made?Imsmarterthanyou said:Nintendo made fire emblem radiant dawn. Xenoblade however came out last may (and in EU this fall)and is sheer awesomeness (allegedly)
You mean Tales of Symponia the GCN RPG which was IMO the best of it's generation, pretty easy game actually.Phoenix_XIII said:I heard Yahtzee say that the Wii Motion Plus didn't help too much...TeeBs said:As weird as this sounds, I can't see that being the case. 90% of DS and GB games had almost no plot and were pretty much just casual games, as far as I have seen this has been greatly improved with the 3DS. Wow. How many times have I mentioned Yahtzee?
And your points are very valid. I can agree with them. But there were some very damn difficult games on the GBA. For some reason, Tales of Symphonia was difficult and so was SNSS1.
I think Fire Emblem is a pretty cool guy. eh uses steroids to kick ass and doesn't afraid of anything.VikingSteve said:Radiant Dawn/Path of Radiance cannot even compare to FE7/8... the stat growth is either starkly lacking for most characters, or they are on steroids (Ike)Phoenix_XIII said:When was Radiant Dawn made?Imsmarterthanyou said:Nintendo made fire emblem radiant dawn. I consider Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn to not be part of the FE family. Just 2 games I want to forget altogether.
I dunno what it was but I'd get caught in bad situations in ToS and I'd get my ass handed to me. PS. Yahtzee is an entertainer first and a writer second (at least in ZP), even he praised the combat in Red Steel 2.
And this post just said it all.Lukeje said:The quality of the stuff Nintendo has been putting out is as good as it has ever been. Whether you think what they're putting out is `gimmicky' is a completely separate issue.
Really your'e comparing FE8 with 10. The only thing 8 has is a better advancement system and grind-fest levels that support it's awesomeness (it's my second favourite in the series). 10 however has the best mission design of any SRPG I've ever played and a fantastic story and sense of progression. The endgame on normal or higher is also bat-shit insane compared to the tame one found in 7 or 8.VikingSteve said:Radiant Dawn/Path of Radiance cannot even compare to FE7/8... the stat growth is either starkly lacking for most characters, or they are on steroids (Ike)Phoenix_XIII said:When was Radiant Dawn made?Imsmarterthanyou said:Nintendo made fire emblem radiant dawn. There was actually an issue I left out that I was going to mention but thought it was a bit touchy.Aura Guardian said:And this post just said it all.Lukeje said:The quality of the stuff Nintendo has been putting out is as good as it has ever been. Omg yes dude...the sequel made me cry. The main character emile was so unbearably annoying I couldn't control it. He was only cool when he was all ichigo form. How could they possibly have fucked it up? All they had to do was continue the story with the same game mechanics...ugh.Ice Azure said:OH YES, HOW CAN I FORGET TALES OF SYMPHONIA
Actually I didn't, I've been waiting to say it.
I honestly don't know where to start on how good it is. Though I don't know where to start on how BAD the sequel was...
