Anyway, closing Gitmo is bad because now we have to spend more money to move the prisoners to a new location.

Also for the record their is plentiful documentation captured from terrorists leaders which instructs those who are captured to cause as much chaos as they can in an effort to demoralize the American public, one of the ways that is frequently listed is to claim torture.

fine close it... where ya going to put them. There not Americans (Not american prisons), no country will take them, and we cant send them home (I.E.D. more troops). so closing the base is a good idea because...

Since when are American prisons too good for foreigners?

Since it is Illegal because they are still "technically" POWs

Since Guantanamo Bay is the symbol of how George Bush threw all human rights out of the window. Even if they would turn it into a normal prison, give everyone a honest trial and release the many innocent people locked up in there this decision will have a lot of symbolic value and shows how Obama does something about Bush's many mistakes. So yeah: it's a good thing.


Oh, and to all idiots who still believe that torcher works: it does not. It only makes the victim say whatever the interrogator wants to hear. Also, many people there are simply innocent, something people tend to forget.

why not just remove the patriot act when the immigration situation cools down and start giving more fair trials to those who were imprisoned? what exactly will shutting it down accomplish?
