Yup, lets all calm down before we all start talking out of our asses about something we hardly know about and even the developers have hardly said anything about.

Lets also think rationally so we don't all get hooked, well thinking rationally I hardly have that much proof so many people were hooked on that game.
Starcraft is a national sport in South Korea. I call that hooked, or at least devotion. On like a cult-status.( I like the Koreans, they're cool)
Have you done any research as to why Starcraft is the national sport of South Korea? Have you done any research on any of the claims you made? Seriously, before posting, take a few minutes to educate yourself so you don't come across as ignorant as you have been.

In a previous post of yours you claimed you didn't want to start a flame war yet created an entire topic practically devoted to it, with most of your responses fanning the flames. I have a feeling you may be a troll. If not, then you must not be all that intelligent.

Obvious troll is so far past obvious it's not even funny. Come on ladies and gents, Section 14 of the Rules of the Internet tells us exactly what to do here.

I like Blizzard, but it gets more and more obvious they'll do anything to keep that cash flow going. And that's okay cause that's the whole point of their business. I applaud their efforts to create something new but honestly I don't see any point behind it. WoW is a true monster; something that will last for few more years and it doesn't need any competition - especially not the one they themselves created. I'll just mention releasing Starcraft 2 as a trilogy (which seems rather unnecessary) and constantly delaying Diablo 3.

I'll admit, I succumbed and bought Cataclysm , but I only played it for 2 weeks because, (and this came as no surprise) it became boring. None of my buddies were playing it and increasing number of wannabe elitists started getting on my nerves. All this led to my decision to think twice before buying any of their products in the future.

They should take more chances, experiment a bit and try to create something new, something I don't have to pay for every month, and not something where "Game experience may change during online play". They have amazing talent behind them but lack the will to realize their full potential.

What? Look, yes I may be cynical about this, but I do not have confidence in Blizzard. I avoid them, if someone offered me a top level job there I'd decline. I don't want to play the ," my opinion," card because that is the spark for a flame war, but I just don't believe in them. Especially when it comes to change.
You wouldn't take a good job at a multi-million dollar gaming company that just farts out expansion packs every few years, and a sequel after 7-10, while all the other game companies are struggling to get enough shit together to bring something new out every two? Well, I'll be. It might be a good job. Why, might I ask? Or is it just because you severely dislike Blizzard and what they stand for?

EDIT: OP, and all the other doubters, you can never declare a game bad until it's out and you've played it. You might be surprised, this might be something face-meltingly awesome.
I dislike WoW and any other MMO that makes you pay a monthly subscription because it leaves you with the feeling that you need to play it because each month costs you money, if you don't play that's wasted money. In general I don't like MMOs because I can't get hooked. I want to, but I am too much of a casual gamer who lieks to jump from a round of Saints Row 2, then switch to something like Mass Effect, then Plants VS Zombies, then maybe some Tales of Vesperia. I wont say WoW sucks because I haven't played it. I will say that WoW is not for me however.

Listen, a non-exploitable MMO is one that is free. One where no one is forcing you to get your moneys worth or fear of losing your account or access to the game world without paying a rent. One where the amount of time it goes on is dependent on the players' enjoyment and maybe micro transaction and the price of the game itself.
Just thought I'd put this out there - Blizzard lets you close down your account and stop paying for any amount of time you desire, and you can return, with your same characters and loot and everything intact (barring bug fixes or item removal which is rare but happens occasionally). If you pay per month or use game cards, you won't lose your place because your account is shut down for a month.

More on topic, Blizzard making "more of the same" is bad for them, both for publicity's sake, and for profitability. Right now, they're dominating the MMO market. If they create a game that competes with that, yes, there will be people who go and play both and pay out the wazoo, but that won't be many. Essentially, what will happen is that they will be doubling their expenses (Server upkeep, new content creation, GMs and other personnel) while leaving their profits the same. Any rational gamer will have to pick between the two if they are so similar, leaving their player base stagnant and income constant. They HAVE to innovate if they want these sites to co-exist like they've stated so often in press conferences.

And yes, they could be lying about these things, maybe Titan will appear and they'll toss WoW out the window. But so far, I've found them to be trustworthy and of good quality, and until I find reason, I will trust that they'll have plenty to offer in the future.

Plus, I mean... They created Lost Vikings. That should give them a life pass of awesome.

Or even had the girl described to him.

This thread is full of over-opinionated wild theories stated as fact.

We get it OP, you dispise Blizzard. Vote them down in the March Mayhem compo.

Oh, and they've said many times that it'll be a new IP.

I like blizzards games, warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 will always rock, but I don't understand this at all. Why make a new MMO? I thought everyone already played WoW. If they actually want new customers they should make it as different to WoW as possible, so they can get those who don't like WoW to play. If they make the same, then WoW players will just start playing that, not gaining customers.

I disagree. If Blizzard has a ton of money, they can afford to take risks like this, to make something completely new, something different. even if it fails, the sales from WoW and Starcraft II will be more than enough to make up for the loses

well i have heard its supposed to work in combination with wow, so that they dont sacrifice any subscribers. they want people to be playing both at the same time, which is logical from a business standpoint but still evil (then again, this is blizzard. they're like if darth vader made fantastic games). that being said, i cant imagine they would be remaking wow with a diablo or starcraft paint job. seems to me that it will likely be an traditionalism mmo, based on something orginal

Apparently I'm incapable of getting hooked on MMOs anyway... something about the grind just bores me to tears after a few weeks...

Okay, yes Blizzard has a new MMO. My theory/ view into the future: more of the same but probably set in Starcraft or Diablo. Now before you go," OMG! DAT WOULD BE AW350M3!!! SPACE MAHREENZ FTW!!!," just let me run this by you. Is it going to be any different from WoW? Here's my view on Blizzard: they love money and would do anything to get it; my view on WoW: Blizzard's cash cow is a Skinner box that basically makes people addicted to the game so that not only will the player never leave but will also pay the monthly $15 sub like a good little lamb. As you can see, I see that this MMO will either get eclipsed by WoW itself or become another waste of time. I know that all MMO's consume time, but it's just that Blizzard loves money. It REALLY loves money and that's why WoW is crack so that Blizzard gets more money.

So my view on the new Blizzard MMO: more of the same, barely any difference between WoW and the new one, people will be too ignorant to their faith in Blizzard to notice the whole part of the game is meant to keep you playing and is mostly grinding and evil, I'm fairly confident that the new MMO will BE WoW only re-skinned.

No matter what, this will apparently sell. Why? People believed that WoW was good, they'll think that the new one will be good even though it is what they got in WoW. To put it bluntly: It's like putting a sticker over a can of Coca-Cola and claiming its Pepsi.

So, do you have hopes for this new one or am I the only one who believes we're in for the same?

To be perfectly clear, any MMORPG would be like WoW, and any MMOFPS would be like ... Resistance 2 (PS3) - the only MMOFPS I've ever played for more than 30 mins.

MMO games have no goal whatsoever, their only purpose is to promise you more of the same, only marginally better, mind-numbing numbers.

I don't care if I'm the shittiest player on the server, as long as I'm having fun, but from my experience, they're not fun at all, they're repetitive, slow and boring. I've never yet played on an official WoW server, but the the lowest-rate-XP server was a 10x ... and it bored me to tears. Having to spend a few weeks playing it 24/7 to get to the max lvl is shitty.

WoW is truely the most boring game - also MMORPG - I've EVER played.

If Blizzard makes another one of those, then fuck them, SC2 will be the last game I'll ever buy from them, unless they make a humongous impact on gaming. Like passing from 2D to 3D. Even then, it'd have to be a multi-verse-shattering-experience, or it's a no-go.

Edit: had a typo, sorry :p.

If it is a Starcraft or a Diablo MMO, I'm already buying it? Why? Because Starcraft and Diablo are awesome. Consider this, maybe WoW is just really popular because Blizzard is really good at keeping people playing? Even if it isn't a MMO based on a past series, Blizzard is still probably still gonna sell millions, because unlike most MMOs, Blizzard will know how to Market it to keep people playing.

I don't watch marketing junk, but I still have to admit that most of Blizzard's game are awesome ... until they ruin them or they don't support them as well as the rich-as-god bastards they are should.

Anyway, SC, I'm still playing it, WC3? Hell yeah! WoW? Yeah right, like that'll ever happen. D2? Not since they turned it into WoW. SC2? Yeah, I like it. D3? No, I'm not into manga ... The next "big" thing? Yeah, maybe in about 20 years.

Yes, they would. Because hype= sales= money= Blizzard laughing in their evil fortress as the new gamers fall prey to their ploy and become their eternal slaves. Honestly, it seems like Blizzard is funded by Lex Luthor and the Legion of Doom.

It isn't exactly PC to throw a loaded term around like "slaves." Especially when you're describing an entirely voluntary activity that people engage in for enjoyment.

Methinks you need a bit of perspective tweak if that constitutes slavery for you.

I don't see why "getting hooked" on a game is a bad thing at all. If people are "addicted" to World of Warcraft, that means Blizzard is doing their job (i.e. making a game people want to play)
