Yes, they would. Because hype= sales= money= Blizzard laughing in their evil fortress as the new gamers fall prey to their ploy and become their eternal slaves. Honestly, it seems like Blizzard is funded by Lex Luthor and the Legion of Doom.

It isn't exactly PC to throw a loaded term around like "slaves." Especially when you're describing an entirely voluntary activity that people engage in for enjoyment.

Methinks you need a bit of perspective tweak if that constitutes slavery for you.

Actually, they have a shitload of psychology consultants for the exact purpose of getting you addicted ;). As a lot of MMORPGs ;).

Maybe they have such a thing as integrity, but their bosses don't allow it to show up.

The industry rapes us in every possible way, that's why I'm all for mass-murdering cash-hungry whores like the CEOs and shit.

I thought that it was confirmed that this game was going to be entirely new? (meaning it's not a branch of diablo, starcraft or warcraft)

Listen, a non-exploitable MMO is one that is free. One where no one is forcing you to get your moneys worth or fear of losing your account or access to the game world without paying a rent. One where the amount of time it goes on is dependent on the players' enjoyment and maybe micro transaction and the price of the game itself.
have you actually ever played an F2P MMO? 'cause what you just said sounds incredibly ignorant. most F2Ps are even more exploitative than sub-based MMOs. basically, those games institutionalize RMT (gold selling/IGE.com/etc.), and thus you must pay more and more money to stay ahead. i played WoW for quite a few years, and i enjoyed it until i stopped enjoying it. if the game was still fun, i'd be perfectly happy to keep paying my $15/month. if you want to call that exploitation, go right ahead, but i'm gonna call you on that bullcrap.

If it is a Starcraft or a Diablo MMO, I'm already buying it? Why? Because Starcraft and Diablo are awesome. Consider this, maybe WoW is just really popular because Blizzard is really good at keeping people playing? Even if it isn't a MMO based on a past series, Blizzard is still probably still gonna sell millions, because unlike most MMOs, Blizzard will know how to Market it to keep people playing.

I don't watch marketing junk, but I still have to admit that most of Blizzard's game are awesome ... until they ruin them or they don't support them as well as the rich-as-god bastards they are should.
Marketing doesn't have to mean Advertisments, it can be in game rewards as well. For example, creating an account on their new MMO will give you a special flying mount for WoW or they make the first month free. In short, its all a matter of getting people to give the game a try, once that is done, its a just a matter of hooking them with the actual game, something Blizzard should have no problem doing.

Yeah, it sucks.

I haven't seen a second of footage nor do I know anything about the setting, world, gameplay, graphics, story, quests, classes, characters, features or anything else, but let me tell you:

I've never seen a worse MMORPG in my entire life.
Well considering that MMORPG's aren't good... just time consuming and addictive (...kinda like Bejeweled) I can say that I partially agree... but I'm still going to wait until it comes out and I play it on my friends 'whatever' before writing a full blown review/thread

Now then, after reading all this about Blizzard I feel like playing some StarCraft 2

You can't really expect Blizzard to make a new WoW. It doesn't make any sense. They wouldn't make a new title to steal the subscribers from WoW.
Every Blizzard game since 1995 has been a top quality product, and with the money and experience from WoW, they have a chance to take big risks and let the innovation flow. I'm really looking forward to playing this new MMO.

Alright. I'll admit, I'm a Blizzard Fanboy. I love them as a gaming company. Now, my opinion:
First: Blizzard is obsessed with money and are using WoW as a "skinners box" cash-cow? I would say that you got that skinners box thing from Extra Credits. I would defently not call Blizzard money-addicted. They waited 12 years for a Starcraft 2, instead of just releasing a cheap sequel after a year or two.
Second: The whole "People BELIEVED that WoW was good". Orly? Guess that the 3 years of fun I had with that game was created by my imagination.
Third: Blizzard is a company. If they don't earn any money, they won't last.

You obviously hate Blizzard and all they do. Please don't start screaming and insult me as a WoW-player. You won't help anyone. Just don't buy Titan, or whatever they are going to call it.

Isn't the Op the same person who made the 'Guild Wars 2 will kill World of Warcraft' thread? I mean do you really just hate Blizzard or World of Warcraft? I don't see why you hate them to be honest.

EDIT: I would like to dispel some of the stereotypes that the Op seems to have.

Yes, Blizzard like money, they are good at making video games, in the words of the Joker 'If you're good at doing something, never do it for free' if you had an amazing talent would you go around doing it for free? If you could cure any disease would you help everyone in the world with no benefit to yourself? No!

World of Warcraft is an addictive game I will admit, but so is anything in this world. You can call any company which make products that are 'consumed' 'evil' due to the fact that what they make can be addictive. Also, in World of Warcraft, most people play it due to the fact that they get to work with their friends. Whether it is in a raid, battleground or arena. If it wasn't because of my friends in my guild, then I would have quit World of Warcraft a long time ago, because I would have gotten bored very quickly.

Also, grinding, you choose to grind. You are not forced to grind. Levelling is not a grind, or at least it doesn't feel like one, because it is so fun. You do not have to grind for gear, serious just one dungeon a day, or 2 hours in a raid with your friends. You do not have to go on 24 hour World of Warcraft binges trying to get the best gear, or the most gold, or the highest PvP rating. You can do that at a slow and steady pace. You choose how you want to play World of Warcraft, and if grinding for 24 hours is your thing, then I'm not going to criticize.

Also World of Warcraft is a good game, deny it all you want but it works. The storytelling is fantastic, the lore is weaved into every quest, you really feel like the hero with the changes to questing in Cataclysm. The mechanics of every class is balanced (almost) the mechanics of every boss is new and interesting, and will easily keep you engaged. The combat can either be slow and calculating or quick and thinking-on-your feet depending on what class/spec you are. And Blizzard really listen to their fans, we demanded harder content, and that is exactly what we got (there are more examples of this, but this is the only one I can think of on my feet)

TLDR: I'm a fanboy of Blizzard and this is my defence of them.

OP posts alot for the first page, stops posting, and leaves multiple pages of people arguing with no one?

You've been trolled.

[ot]Where n=months

12,000,000*15.00*n= Blizzard not really giving a fuck about a small group of people bitching.

Saying World of Warcraft is the work of a satanic Burrhus Frederic is actually rather far from reality. As much as we like to believe that all people that play WoW are completely hooked on a drool creating aparatus, the game has huge volumes of interesting mechanics that allow the player to get a grasp at a gigantic universe. If there's something World of Warcraft isn't, it's poorly designed, we're talking about a game that manages to round up millions of players and keep them paying a monthly fee.

In my opinion, the only way in which Blizzard can accurately market a MMORPG, is through a micro game that doesn't require the player's 24/7 input to function. The thing is that the kind of person who wants to play an MMORPG only has time for one game, and that is already World of Warcraft. Trying to have another huge ass game share the audience is a long stretch, and I personally don't think it'll work properly.
Wow. My hopes, that Escapist is still intelligent and open minded instead of just hating everything thats popular, have been renewed.

EDIT: And as I continue to read there is much more people like that!

...or am I the only one who believes we're in for the same?
Remember now, you're never the only one. Since we know next to nothing about the game, I can't really say one way or the other, so I'll just guess. My guess is that it will be more of the same, but with better graphics. Whether I'm proven wrong or not doesn't really matter, since I doubt I'll be playing it anyway.

Oh wow, cynicism! That isn't new or surprising! *yawn*

Also, I have no opinion. All we know is the bloody title, hardly anything to give us even a sliver of a glimpse into the new IP that has been announced.

..Also, Diablo 3 is going to be better than Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.
