I might have first come here for his amusing flood of words, but I stayed for the community, for LRR, for the forums and their games, for journalists and journalism that cared about things I cared about, and brought forth issues to me that I might have otherwise been unaware of. I became enraptured by a few new series that had arrived, and came to love the reviews that came out, unafraid to produce a two page article on what made a game great, and what made it break. I found many reasonable and intelligent people in forums policed by fair and observant moderators who made the rules, and weren't needed in every thread because of the mindset of many of the contributors who would promote the spirit of camaraderie and reason over a hate-fueled flame war any day.
So, he might have been the bun in the bakery that caught my eye, but the skill and atmosphere that bakers provided is what kept me around.
