Jupiter's gravitational pull re-directs celestial screamers like comets and meteors away from Earth's area of the system.

So it's like our big bro protecting us from bullies.

But personally I'd go with Venus, because it's the closest planet to us that we can't fucking explore.

Getting rid of Pluto would put an end to the arguments over it's planetary status. Plus it's the one I think we could most afford to lose with minimal long-term consequences to the solar system.

What good would that do? You know we'd just find something else to argue about.

Also why are we blowing up planets? I don't care what the OP said, I want to know why the hell we have to blow up a planet. ...assuming we could, which is doubtful.

Mercury.

Pluto isn't a planet, get over it.

Venus and Mars could be moved into earth's orbit to create new habital worlds, technology pending of course. And the 4 gas giants protect us from comets and the like from crashing into earth.

So blowing up uranus, as fun as that sound, might help doom us all.

Uranus. It's just a plain old gas giant. Pluto is awesome, Neptune's orbit crosses with Pluto's and it's named after a god, Saturn has rings, Jupiter is fucking huge, Venus has interesting features, Mars is a good candidate for colonization, and Mercury is at least a rock, not just gas.

Uranus is also a god :/

OT: Mercury because it probably has the least chance of harbouring life (besides Venus, but that's a bit too close to earth for my liking).

At first I voted Pluto, but now I vote to blow Saturn up.
