So we're aware now (most of us, anyway)that Osama bin Laden has been killed. Do you guys think that this is the death of the most hated enemy since Hitler?
World War Two went for only 6 years, and the September 11 attacks happened almost 10 years ago, so we have obviously been hunting him down for a LONG time. There were many more casualties in WW2, but Hitler never planned on attacking American soil, and they never killed American civilians. So I'm interested to see how you guys think this compares.
EDIT: I know Hitler's death was bigger. I'm asking if this is the biggest since, not bigger than.
Hitler started a war that brought about the deaths of over 35 million people. Included in that is 6 million jews from various nations who were beaten, starved, worked or gassed to death.
Osama bin Laden put in motion events that killed about 3,000 American, British and people of other nationalities.
In response the coalition entered into two wars. The Iraqi War (The Second Gulf War) and the war in Afghanistan.
Iraqi War death toll: 4,750
War in Afghanistan death toll: 2,355
(these are coalition death tolls)
So altogether Osama bin Laden cost the world around 7,405 lives. Putting that next to Hitlers 35,000,000 you can tell how utterly stupid a comparison this is to make.
