I want to see what you all think about PC gaming and how many of you play PC games. And how it compares to console gaming. I play PC and I think it is more fun to play than consoles, and that Keyboard and Mouse control and mods will always make PC gaming better. What do you think?

I'm a big fan of PC gaming, and I think most games are done better with a Keyboard and Mouse then a controller. (Sim/Strats, FPS and 3PS, and RPGs.)

PC gaming is is no different to console gaming, you just have a much broader spectrum and, indeed, longer shelf life thanks to mods that make the gameplay/story a little different to give you another take on the game. All PC games can use gamepads (some with the use of external software) the truth is, it depends on the game. RTS's are more suited to PC gaming, as are FPS's, but 3rd person shooters are more suited to the consoles, and some RPG's are more suited to consoles.

Personally I play PC games only, but that's only because my step-dad has taken the 360 to Germany with him. I am hoping to get my own 360 one day however.

I'm mainly a console gamer-- but that's not to say I don't enjoy my share of PC games. Recently I have been playing through Fallout 1 & 2 in preparation for 3. I don't play many shooters on the PC, though. Despite what the "experts" always tell me, I prefer to control the x and y axis with joysticks.

I cant realy vote here..... I like computer games but i run on a single core system with 500 ram so it kinda limits it for me.

I have a 360 and when i can afford a game its usealy for it. (yeayeah im a PCpitate but whe are accepted nowdays right?)I have to vote console because of the limitations on my struggeling computer that begs me to end its eternal torment. ^^

Sorry, but I didn't vote in your poll because it fails to provide adequate options.
I have played PC games and because of the major difference in PC exclusives and consoles' I can't decide between the two.
I don't get to play many PC games because I don't have my own computer but I do like playing them. Favorites such as Diablo II and Idk...Oblivion :] make PC games very enjoyable.

I have played PC games in the past, but as my current system ages I play on it less and less... and mainly retro titles at that. My current platform-of-choice is the Xbox 360.

I'm a PC gamer and always will be one. I like consoles as well, but even though they have many games that I desire to play, I don't want to fork over money for another game system when my computer is good enough. I get more use out of my computer as well as I use it for writing, work, research, music, ect. The main reason I have always chosen PC over everything else is it's versatility. The fact that it can do so much more than just games makes better use of my money than a console.

I've only been around the Escapist forums for a short time but these PC and/or Console threads sure do pop up a lot. You know, there's not actually a war going on between the various entertainment platforms, it shouldn't matter so much. Sega dropped off the face of the planet but we're still seeing Sonic games. Working Designs shut down their doors but we're still seeing JRPGs.

No offense is meant to the OP or even people who start/continue these threads (especially with me becoming one of them by posting) but I've yet to see one of these threads bring something new to the table. Even if just for the purposes of a survey, I'm sure you'll find a decent portion of each.

I find that Racers and FPSs are much better on consoles... like wise RTSs are much better on PC...

As i look thru my games almost all my PC games are RTSs and ALL my xbox 360 games are shooters or racers...

the one big problem with console games are that they are more expensive but apparently the PC gaming market is dying down and several stores around my area have stopped stocking PC games cos apparently no one buys them... but thats b*llsh*t

The only reason i don't play a lot of PC games is because i don't have enough money to be constantly upgrading my PC to keep up with the demand of current games

Why isn't there an option for "yes and they are as fun as console games"?

That's my opinion, depends on the game, RTSes have to be played on PCs. I've gotten used to FPSes on consoles but those were kind of hard to get used to playing without WSAD+mouse.

Fighters, rpgs, third-person shooters are a couple of genres I prefer to play on a console.

If by PC games you mean Flash Games then yes I do play PC games every now and again :D

But for the main "hardcore" titles, the most hardcore I've gotten on the PC was The Sims, so I'm mainly a console gamer.

Since until fairly recently Strategy games were pretty much exclusive to PC, it's the gaming system I use most. I don't have much experience with console games beyond the NES, so I can't say I don't like consoles/console games, but I do know I love strategy games.

i'd class PC games as ones you need discs to play

You really don't have to. I upgrade my computer maybe once every three or four years and said upgrade costs me ~200 dollars. Now, you won't be playing every game on max settings doing that but I have yet to play a game that won't run acceptably.

This, however, assumes you have the ability (IE you are not a paraplegic) to do part replacement yourself. This can be intimidating at first if you have never worked with a computer before but its a lot easier than most people seem to think it is.

It only gets expensive when you buy completely new systems every couple years that you do not build yourself.

Pigalito : You may want to reconsider that. A lot of games have internet downloads these days.

I wish there was a I LIKE BOTH EQUALLY option instead of they are crap or consoles are crap.

I like both but some games are better for one than another.
