Poll: Peter Molyneux, Idiot or Liar?

The games that he creates are great. Granted he just overhypes them but that is all. The man gave us Fable and although we were let down, it was better then most games out there (Looking at you Alone in the Dark.) Black and white wasen't such a bad game either but was merly over hyped once again. If he can just keep his mouth shut for a little while then this would proably not even be an issue.

He's just hyping up his games to get a few more sales. Dishonest: kinda, but no worse than any other corporation. Besides, he's the guy behind Fable, one of my favourite games. I just can't bring myself to hate him.

Peter just gets excited about his games. It's called enthusiasm, and he's well aware he's been known to spout things which haven't made it into the game, so for Fable 3 he's keeping his mouth shut until he can actually show proof of his claims.

No I'm not either. I don't find him any better or worse than any other dev when it comes to bragging about thier new game. Filling the interweb with big promises that they never deliver on. That is why I never listen to them anymore.

He's a visionary. He comes up with great ideas that are too difficult to implement into a game so they end up with a game that is decent but far below Molyneux's amazing vision of the ultimate game. He basically just gets ahead of himself.

Definitely both but he is still a pretty good games designer. I've enjoyed every game I've played to come out of his studio.

both. He makes too many outlandish claims that will never be fulfilled. If you ask me, He's out of sync with his time zone. Send him 10 years into the future, and people will see him as a mediocre game maker, nothing more.

The answer is neither: Molyneux attempts to put the features he talks about in his games. Sometimes the ambition outweighs the capability of the game, and aspects are scrapped. Even so, his games are a blast to play and offer something different from the other games out there. Plus, people seem to forget his other games, like Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper (which I haven't played, but I would like a rerelease to try them out) in lieu of his most recent success, the Fable series. Molyneux is a good game designer who has high aspirations. I think that's what we need at this time.

And if Mr. Molyneux is reading this, I want a dog in Fable 3.

Yeah, if Peter is guilty of anything it's extremely high hopes for his games, and where they're going to end up when he's done. Sure he should keep his mouth shut most of the time, but nothing wrong with aiming high. I just wish he'd hit the marks he'd set for himself from time to time.

It's like he goes I want this in the game and that to the press but when he goes back to the studio developers are like "we can't do that". and then he trys to ignore the problem till it goes away. wait is that him or me.

Anyway. What he did with Fable 1 can not be excused.

But if you look away from that really small incident. I mean like come on' the game still kicked ass.

There is nothing wrong with Molyneux. He is a great designer and he is WAY overhated.

I don't particularly think it's either, He's a man whose outright devoted and enthusiastic towards the things that he and his team create.

sure he over-steps the mark with his promises, which I think he's honestly toned down, but I wouldn't be too interested in buy a game that the CEO of the devlopers had little to no faith in.

His games aren't outright terrible they're just not exactly what he says they are, because he has a genuine vision of where he wants to take things with gaming and I highly doubt that even he feels that any one of his latest titles is anything more than a step towards that goal.

Like I said he just gets a little too enthusiastic about it, which is perfectly understandable. If I were to invest time, money and attention into a project I completely believed was worth the effort, I wouldn't turn around and say "You'll have fun with it, but it won't exactly change your life, buy Gears of War instead."

And that's my take.
