it's as bad as SARS and Bird flu.

WHICH ARE RAVAGING OUR FUCKING BODIES OH GOD HELP.

this is no-one's concern but medical professionals and farmers. I'd go so far as to suggest the media who report on this more than it needs to be should be fucked for terrorism.

Another name for pig flu would be Influenza.

Also I saw on Spanish news that the same vaccines that worked for bird flu work for swine flu.

Not a concern. There is plenty of vaccine avaliable and the authorities are aware of the affliction and hopefully should take the proper precautions. When it has killed over 1000 people in one country alone i might start to take notice.

A pandemic (from Greek ðáí pan all + äÞìïò demos people) is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide.
Well... I don't exactly know that it's "worldwide". I wouldn't have thought it sufficiently ubiquitous. And the death toll is around 150-200, last I heard. So I'm not exactly worried.

That having been said, the total suspected cases is more like 3000 or so. Which is a little more worrying.

But really, I'm not concerned. I wasn't seriously concerned for SARS, either. Australia is pretty well off with these things, being so isolated.

It's something to keep an eye on. If it spreads wide, there's no certainty that you'll get a deadly strain, but you might. It's kinda diverse like that, apparently. Could just get the regular ol' flu, or you could get infested and develop exploding syndrome (that's what FOX said anyway... >.> JOKE).

I'm not too worried. Just cautious.

This. Every other new disease has been hyped to the sky by the media, only for it to have a fairly limited effect globally. I remember when they were saying half a million people could die from bird flu. They are now saying the same thing about swine flu. I doubt it'll be a serious problem.

Also: use the Search button! This is at least the fourth thread on swine flu in two days!

Seeing how a 23-year old died on the news. I voted other.
"A 23-month-old Mexican child has died of swine flu in Texas - the first death from the virus outside Mexico, where it may have killed as many as 159 people."

Oh really?

As of this morning there have been just over 160 deaths with reported cases of swine flu in Mexico.

If you read into it a little more, what news companies fail to mention is that so far only 7 cases were actually confirmed as swine flu.

And thats out of a population of what? At a conservative guess..... 10million? People need to bear this in mind before they start proclaiming that the end of the world is nigh!

There is no reason as yet to worry about swine flu any more than a runny nose.

NOT REPLYING TO THAT GUY, TALKING IN GENERAL

Also, the sky won't be falling on our heads today. it's been said over and over. The sky isn't falling, stop panicking.

One has no control or knowledge about this, and anything you try to spread about this makes it even worse.

Seriously, Madagascar closes down everything during pollen season.
So that's why it was so hard to infect in the game Pandemic. Now it makes sense.

considering the last outbreak of a flu like this ended world war 1 by killing millions yes i take it seriously
50 millions then the next flu in 57' killed 2 millions and the last real flu killed 1 million so not so many are going to die
