except when the fire type knows thunder punch!theonlywildman said:Squirtle. cant go wrong with water-types
jolteon, man thats a pokemon i aint seen in ages has a good special abitlity in the game it absorbs eletric attacks to restore HPkiyeshi said:i always liked the first generation pokemon best, my favorite being jolteon. but turtwig is the best starter, cause torterra is amazing

Not that I'm an expert, but I think it's even more than that...
you beat brock with beedrill? awesome! how the hell did u navigate the dark cave without flash? bit difficult i would have thought!Some_Jackass said:Charmander ftw. With every generation, originality faded more and more.
And yeah, the 1st 2 gyms were a ***** when you chose Charmander, making Beedrill the most devestating thing I could throw at Brock, but I felt all the more bad ass when I beat them.
Still, my favorite accomplishment was when I navigated my way through Dark Cave without bothering to learn "flash"
well pokemon yellow was just give the player and experience with a pikachu to start with personally i knew someone who traded it to red and blue evolved it and it never got out of its pokeball again!RYjet911 said:Bulbasaur for most playthroughs of first gen, simply because the first three gyms are piss easy as long as you get him to level 13 so he learns Vine Whip by that time.
Slaughters Brock and Misty, and that Surge guy's attacks do little damage to bulbasaur.
I hated Pokemon Yellow though... Brock was so awkward if you didn't know you could get a Mankey from the Elite 4 route before you fight him...
there must come a time when they'll have to stop adding new pokemon i mean come on nearly fivehundred jesus!DemonGuy792 said:Red: Charmander (Fire Type)
Gold: Cyndaquil (Fire Type)
Ruby: Torchic (Fire Type)
Platinum: Chimchar (Fire Type)
Seeing a pattern here? It's that they all rock and you know it
Also, since we're discussing it, the 2nd generation was, in my opinion, the best, since it was the last generation before the Pokemon designs began to go down the pan.
yea i suppose you right in that respect i mean charizard what a pokemon mind you it is prone to electic attacks!s.a.d.guy47 said:I've never played the first gen. I usually start the games over once I get bored and experiment w/ the other types. The first time I play, I choose the fire-type. Always. Can't go wrong with a good fire-type.
to tell the truth never played the third generation much at all, apart from when i needed to trade pokemon to pal park and also get the coloured flutes!Mezzamine said:Gen 1: Charmander all the way (as said before: He's a f*ckin' dragon!)
usually I'd play yellow though, in which case I'd use a butterfree on Brock (it learns confusion at level 10.)
Gen 2: Didn't play it much, but I think I went for cyindaquil.
Gen 3: Mud! Kip! Mud! Kip! etc.
Gen 4: hardly played (except briefly on a rom, but I quickly got bored.) I think I used Piplup.
