Charizard. He's a friggin dragon.

Also, you are new here, so I'll give you the Escapist greeting.

*ahem*

Welcome! Welcome to Escapistmagazine.com! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining Internet Utopias. I thought so much of Escapistmagazine.com, that I elected to establish my administration, here, in the Forums, so thoughtfully provided by our Moderators. I am proud to call Escapistmagazine.com my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through to parts unknown, welcome, to Escapistmagazine.com. It's safer here.
You forgot to mention the friendly troll, George, and the bodies in the cellar. With Max and Cpt. Oblivious on the loose, we can't take any chances. He needs to be warned. The Escapist Greeting needs to be updated, we need to move with the times...

Anyway, OP, welcome to the site. Have a good stay :)

And on topic, I don't play Pokemon much now, but I used to always choose the Fire starter (whichever it was). However, nowadays I prefer to put it in a PC and instead try and get an entirely Eevolution composed team, made up of the following:

- Espeon
- Umbreon
- Jolteon
- Flareon
- Vaporeon
- Glaceon

Note that the list is in order from my favourite to my least favourite out of those Pokemon.
leafeon was not included mind you i can see why we all new there would be one eventually but did it have to take 3 generations to get it?

Charmander and Totodile. I haven't played past Gold/Silver.

Don't laugh at us because of the first gym. Ember might have a type disadvantage, but it actually does decent damage, and neither Geodude nor Onix are immune to burning.

If anything, laugh at us when we face Misty...

Chikorita, because I enjoyed the fact that the little tyke could eventually learn earthquake and that Typhlosion wasn't a cheating bastard (a flyer).

Never played anything past that.
i agree with you that it was hard with charmander as a starter in the red and blue but i was usually around level 15 when i took on brock at the first gym then i remembered that cerulen was a water gym.... shit!
Okay, I'll laugh at that too!

But honestly? Blastoise was probably the best one of the three in the original, because he could be effective against both enemy types, and Charizard being a flyer killed Venusaur's earthquake being effective. Meganium could do so in GSC, but I only remember picking him/her because of my love for Bulbasaur in the original.

You know, I think I'm going to start reading the pokemon manga again, and watch Scyther vs Bublasaur.
hang on you dont mean the pokemon specail manga do u in which ash/red has bulbasaur first!
And he is fighting Machamp in a darkened room, and opens the shutters enabling Bublasaur to perform Solarbeam? Maybe [http://www.mangavolume.com/index.php?serie=pokemon-adventures&chapter=pokemon-adventures-2&page_nr=1]. :D
lol very good!

yeah, he's fast as hell too. favorite eevee evolution by far.
i like umbreon for sumreason!
he looked cool, but he was always worse stat wise. it annoys me how many evolutions they've tacked on to eevee, it was a cool gimmick at first, but now it just shows how they've run out of ideas.
well they still havent done steeleon, groundeon for example or Ghosteon etc bet if you where a eevee u would seriosly have to weigh up each branch or maybe they could evolve eeeve it another normal type i dont know!

Charmander - Chico...something. The grass one, okay? - Treecko (Also grass)

And I regret nothing!

Partially because I played every game anew at least five times, just to try out different pokémon.

My favourite game is Pokemon Gold. I may be biased though, as I never played any of the others...

And I believe I've played with each of the three starters. And I gotta say, Chikorita is NOT an easy choice at the beginning of the game. My favourite is probably Totodile (later Feraligator).

Generation 2 was the best. Cyndaquil was the man.
cyndaquil was wicked but his final form needed a second type maybe dark?
I don't think it really mattered because Typhlosion ended up being the strongest out of the three regardless.

I usually went with fire... with the originals, Charizard was awesome, but the first two gyms were murder, like someone already said... Squirtle was ok... Bulbasaur made the first two gyms easy, but after that I thought he sucked...

Bodies in the cellar? Oh, so THAT'S what we do we the banned people! Also, who's the Friendly Troll?
No idea, to be honest. I think he just turned up one day. Cpt. Oblivious may have been involved, but we kept him as a pet for a while. Trouble is, they keep on dying so we have to get new ones. It's like replacing the dead hamster so your kids don't cry, except it's with Friendly Trolls instead. Personally, I think someone has a hot-sausage-inna-bun trade down in the cellar, and that's killing them all off. It would explain why there seem to be more bodies every time I go down there, Max can't be that hungry...

Bulbasaur because he had no weaknesses in gyms until the 7th, by that point you could have loads of extra pokemon that could crush that gym

Indeed, and in Gold I picked that young shrew fellow whose head was on fire. Must have hurt terribly. I got a bit old for it after that, so I wouldn't know what was best later on, although I always found "kill it with fire" to be the most effective approach...
