I played all but the second generation twice, and in those playthroughs it wasn't who I did choose, but who I didn't. That namely being the grass type. I hate grass types, I really REALLY do. Empoleon in the new game is a beast, but can be annihilated by Infernapes fighting moves. Torterra, on the other hand, can likely be dominated by both of the other starters (Empoleon's ice and flying moves, Infernapes fire moves [duh])

Charmander
Totdile
Treecko

You see the pattern ? I cant say no to bipedal reptiles ^^

This is why I did not run instandly to the shops to get Diamont / Perl because I dont like the three current starters as much as the previous ones. There was just no bipedal reptile :[

Took Piplup in Platinum then, was cute and a bird atlast ;)

torterra's ground moves are good against empoleon and infernape. His high defenses make sure he can get an earthquake in.

Yeah, I dont think an Emoleon can beat a Torterra using Earthquake.

Generation 1- Charmander... because: A-its Charizard. B-it provides a challenge.
Generation 2- Cyandaquil
Generation 3- Mudkip
Generation 3- Pulpip

I guess I'll vote for the advance ones because Saphire Version was the only one I ever played

unless the empoleon uses an ice attack. ice attacks rage on torterra. only thing i hated about him.

Empoleon doesn't go down with an earthquake and the only good type of Infernape is a fast Infernape. If you can hit him, someone has failed as a trainer.

Squirtle is usually my favourite, but my last playthrough I chose Charmander. Charizard is now currently my highest level.

I'm a purist - Original set (first generation) or bust. Never got into anything past Mew.

torterra can take a hit from an infernape, he has ridiculous defense. after the infernape's mostly futile attack, the earthquake hits. and infernape goes down. but yeah, empoleons take a little more effort...

im old school with my pokemon, gen. 1 FTW!!! it was by far the best, the pokemon actually looked like animals although A FEW of the 2nd generation pokemon were nice cause they filled out the evolution chains. The newer generations look so wierd, it's like someone sneezed on a piece of paper a few times and then the used a random series of word generators to give it a name, or they just copy-paste some of the older pokemon changed a feature or two then switched around what type they were to make the newer ones. so yeah gen. 1 and i took charmander most of the time or on a rainy day (no pun) squirtle, never bulbasaur. so there.

Bulbasaur, then I laughed at anyone who chose Charmander because of the first gym.

But yeah, my picks in the past were: Squirtle, then Cyndaquil, then whatever wasn't Mudkip.

No offense to the little guy, but the thing he evolved into looked dog-ass ugly to me.

Never played the fourth game.
Heh, why didn't I post that? Love Super Effective and VGCats, but I wish he would update the blessed thing whenever he claims he will (every monday) rather than once in a yellow moon.

Charmander, Totodile and then Torchic.

And generation two was the best by far.
