I'm not going to lie, digimon did have a better story, but I liked how Pokemon has at least in all it's time stayed consistent.

I loved both but was more intrigued by the Digimon universe.
However, as Digimon faded into obscurity and Pokemon stuff was easy to get ahold of, I ended up with more Pokemon stuff.
At some point.... I may buy all the Digimon series and give them a watch.
Just to see how it ends and appease my childhood curiosity.

Digimon wins for me because they made different series with different characters for the most part, and pokemon is still telling the same exact story with Ash, Brock, and a girl all these years into the show. Now if we were talking about the games, Pokemon would win hands down, but the show was too bland for me so yeah Digimon wins.
There both equal to me. If I had to pick, it would be Digimon.

Pokemon is the way to go. I get lost in Digimon, some may look cool but eh, I prefer the one I've known.

I saw Pokemon first, and when I watch the first season it brings a wonderful heady rush of nostalgia of when Pokemon used to be on on Saturday mornings on SMTV: Live (it was a Saturday morning show in Britain) so my vote goes for Pokemon, but my little brother overwhelmingly preferred Digimon and I used to watch the cartoon with him, and even now I immensely enjoy it, and now that I am older I can see it had a better plot and character development than Pokemon, but Pokemon gets me everytime, especially when I hear:

OT: Pokemon all the way, but Digimon isn't far off, i used to love them both.
But now it's just Pokemon. Digimon seems to have fell of the radar...Which is kinda sad, because i miss Veemon

I spent part of last summer re-watching Digimon from the beginning. I think it is a great series. The games did not live up to the show.
Digimon was way better because it had a progressive story while in Pokemon they just meandered about aimlessly going from town to town with little to no flowing story or logical conclusion to any arch.

I prefer this to the original Pokemon theme and i'm a HUGE Pokemon fanHowever...the Johto Theme, i admit is ALOT better than this, with it being my favourite theme for Pokemon...I'm also one of the weird ones that love the Black And White theme xD

Their games are actually really good, I can't believe people can prefer Pokémon games. I've played more than 1000 hours of both, and Pokémon is so slow and monotonous while there are many different kind of Digimon games and they all have much deeper combat and digivolution.
I can't remember the animes, but don't recall liking either.
Also, the designs is a lot more clever and the digivolutions are ridiculously complicated.

Seeing how I was soo obsess with Pokemon when it first aired (I had alot of Pokemon merchandises) I would have to vote for Pokemon.
The biggest problem people seem to have with the Pokemon show is that nothing ever changes, but for a show aimed at 7-10 year olds thats exactly what you need. It sets out to give kids an entertaining 1/2hr with a fun story and entertaining fights and it succeeds on all levels.
Digimon on the other hand sets out to be more complex for an older age-range (10-13) with a more complex ongoing plot and character arcs and like Pokemon, it succeeds. Because of these elements, it doesn't feel as childish when you rewatch it.

Digimon, hands down the best one out there, for one reason alone among the many,
THERE WAS A GODDAMN STORYLINE
outside of that the battles were significantly more bad-ass the sad parts were actually sad, oh and character development you actually gave a shit about the characters in Digimon
