Nah. Gameplay's better than ever.

You can have my Empoleon and Gardevoir when you pry them from my cold dead Pokeballs.

Yes, it has. I even wrote a thread about it a while back.

Edit: here it is, http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.92132#1438682

It's been out of hand for a fair few years. After Johto, in fact. It's just insane nowadays.
Yea, Johto was the best. There remaking gold and sliver and I'll buy one of them but I could care less about the others.

Yeah, I don't really play as Combee, but if you evolve it into Vespiquen, she's actually pretty fun. Not sure how well she'd fare competitively, but just as a part of my party, I enjoy using her.

Well, I like the newer generations. Though I still believe that Ruby/Sapphire are the best versions to date, I still think the new generations are still going strong.

For example, my two favorites are 3rd and 4th generation. The first 150... well, I still like a few of them, but a lot of them feel so outmoded and stale. The only two I still frequently use are Flareon and Electrode, and Flareon is being replaced soon.

They made a poke-god. Not one of the Greco-Roman-Norse elemental deities, mind you, a Judeo-Christian metaphysical omnipotent god.

So any other legendary made at this point would just be a waste.

I think they should stop it because the new games play and feel very boring and repetitive. But it still makes money, so they'll continue.
I know this isn't on topic, but does anyone know why the guy I just quoted got banned? (The thread is gone.) I wouldn't normally ask, but it just seems a shame to have gotten so high a post count and then get banned...

OT: I really think they should have ended Pokemon after the first two or three series.
They're ruining the franchise, and for what? There can't be many people who still watch it.

Pokémon used to be nice-looking, with loveable creatures and names with puns, unlike Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh! and whatever else there was, that just had things that looked like they were designed to fight against Godzilla.

But now... I just don't know what to say...

I did some calculations on the bid of Suiseiseki, and my napkin maths placed that - if current trends continue - there would be 1300~ pokémon by 2015 (or possibly 2025, I forget which number we arbitrarily picked).

That's assuming current trends continue of course, since they made Arceus which is essentially God with a capital G, there's not much else for them to do now.

This.

I was seriously hoping they're remake Gold and Silver (Platinum and Paladium versions maybe?) for a while. But as it stands right now, I KNOW they'd fuck it up.

Well, I have to say that they've gone somewhat overboard. But it's not like they didn't try new things. (like PkMn Ranger, PkMn MysteryDungeon etc.) It's just that the original formula Selled better.
When it comes to the PkMn themselves they look more lame for every generation. I wonder how they will do it when they are completley out of ideas. (Wich thet should be now that they've even made lords of time, space and ehat could be defined as god!)

Watch Dragonball Z sometime. They always find a way to continue past godhood. -_-

The original on the Game Boy were golden, fun, and replayable, mostly having to do with the fact it was portable. It was one of the few RPG/turn-based games that I enjoyed.

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald on the Game Boy Advanced were missing the goldenness, mainly doing with the lack of the previous areas and Pokemon, but its aspects like the new types of Pokemon, more items (mainly the Running Shoes), special powers, made me enjoy it.

Then came the rest of those spin-offs and bad games. Mystery Dungeon, the games on home consoles (like XD Gale of Darkness), the Diamond and Pearl games, the remakes (like Fire and Leaf), and those ones that have nothing to do with the original idea (like Pokemon Snap).

And, of course, the anime. Need I explain more?

It's definetly out of hand, it made me lose interest on the franchise completely after the GBA remakes.

As some people have pointed out, this is a series for kids. Most of us here were ariund 6.7 when Red nad Blue came, and boy was it awesome!
The 6 year olds today will look back and think that Pearl and Diamoond were the best games.

Off topic: my girlfriend have everyone except eight on her Pearl. And she knows everyone by type.

yep way outta hand.

they were so FRICKIN 100% certain there were 151 pokemon.

now there are probably over 500 how is this possible.(i know it's just an anime show but COME ON) i can't stand that kind of logic.
