It's out of hand for the people that knew the good old games from the gameboys.

But when your just getting into it through the age range it's aimed at, it's still that tantalising addictive mutant animal vrs mutant animal street fighting series it always was.

I think the new pokemon are still pretty well thought out. And the d/p storyline is by far the best imo.

They should make one last game where its all the continents, 32 gym battles and a story better than evil team wants magic pokemon, stop them from getting magic pokemon, capture magic pokemon, beat eliete four,. Don't get me wrong I still play my old copy of Blue, but after Crystal... They're just... meh.

What? Charizard was just a dragon... How is that creative? Most of the generation 4 ones aren't as good as some of the old ones, but I think that Pokemon would have gotten very, very old if they didn't add more to the francise. In Platinum, the pokemon I dislike the most are the originals because they're so old and stale.

Personally I don't think it's gone too far. I mean there were some really, really bad ones in the first 150; so bad in fact that people fully equipped with their rose tinted classes intentionally block out their names and list them as part of the new ones.

I mean it's not like it's a sudden change. It's been 10 fucking years. They've slowly been adding up pokemon and for those who have decided to keep up, instead of ******, it's pretty easy to differentiate. It especially irks me when people ***** about the names, the puns used for the original 150 were just as bad. I cringed at the names of the originals, when I was fucking 6.

Hell most of the new ones aren't even really "new". They just add evolutions to old ones. Whether that means a new baby form and a new second stage (like Electabuzz and Magmar) or just adding a new one on top of one they already had (like Scyther). Out of all the things people could ***** about, I still can't believe they ***** about this.

* in this context of bitching, I'm trying to differentiate between the people who have no interest in pokemon and the people who tried to relive the nostalgia and are just offended that Nintendo had the gall to change their creation.

You are absolutely right. I cherished the old games, but now I just think they aren't even trying anymore.

Pokémon Crystal marks the end of the "golden" age of Pokémon games, much like the release of Oracle of Ages/Seasons marks the end of the "golden" age of Zelda titles - like, yes, successor titles were still good, but is anyone really apt to confuse Diamond/Pearl with Red/Blue, in terms of innovation? Or Minish Cap with Link's Awakening?

The latest generation was the worst, not one worthwhile Poke'mon in there, and it brought the plague known as Bidoof upon humanity.

I'll agree Pokemon has gotten way out of hand. I remember first playing red then yellow heck i even had silver. Up to that point i loved the games. I recently purchased Emerald just because i wanted to play the old games with updated graphics. But several friends convened me to but Diamond/Pearl when it came out. And i have to say i didn't enjoy them that much. What I hated most was that funky leveling system that just screwed up doing battles over line. Cause you could take your best Pokemon in and then just get creamed by some one else with a lower level Pokemon just because they stuck to the fucked up leveling system. It was by that point I just put down the game.

Pokemon reminds me now of the woodland critters from south park. Remembe that? Squirely the squirrel and whatnot? Its like all pokemon's names are like that now. It's hawky the hawk! It's cockroachy the cockroach! Go cockroachy!

Remember the good ol' days when you played as pikachu and charizard?
Those pokemon were creative, new, cool, well rounded monsters.
...recently i picked up a copy of pokemon Diamond version.....OH MY GOD, all pokemon have lost all creativity, there drawn to look like mutated blobs, and the NAMES come ON!

A pokemon made out of honey comb and some bee wings..really...is that all they have left...

there milking the whole pokemon thing and hott damn the games are getting worst and worst D:

Well thats what i think.
you?
You now what the real problem is? The guy who originaly drew all the pokemon quit after season two. Thats why all the pokemon in season 3/4 look so strange and alien.

All that needs to be said: pokemon....beauty.......contests. As soon as I heard about this "exciting" new "feature" in Ruby and Sapphire (gah, even the names went downhill quickly) I lost faith in the series.

I think some have lost some creativity, but their are still some new pokemon that are innovative. For the most part I still enjoy them, but Red/Blue/Gold/Silver were the best, hands down.
