Pokemon Diamond was one of the best games I have played. It's so well done in terms of gameplay depth and I sing it's praises to all of my friends. That and the redone Final Fantasys (Pleaseee make V and VI!) are the reasons I am bloody happy to own a NDS.

?Critics who treat "adult" as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adults themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence....When I was ten, I read fairytales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."?

Hah, EVs are for kids. IVs are what separates the tough, manly men from the little boys.
I don't need to be told, i have an IV perfect Alakazam.

yeah, i rule.
Alakazam, pffft.

That's right, I pfffted at your Alakazam.

Nothing compares to my perfect IV Blissey, nor my near-perfect Ninjask and Marowak.

The amount of breeding that it took to get those... is just mind-numbing. My Ditto is such a filthy whore.
Alakazam Packing recover is Blisseys Nemesis, seriously, Body slam is dried up while i still have 10 recover uses left. And then its a two hit KO from Psychic so powerful your screen will crack.

You Have 700hp? I can clear it out in two hits. Thats right, two hits.

That said, everyones Ditto is a filthy whore.

Careful Joe, your amateur is showing.

If you think using Psychic (a special attack) against Blissey is a good idea... well, to be frank, you're out of your league. I can guarantee it will take way more than two psychics to take out any, let alone my beautiful Blissey.

And while you may have recover, do not forget I have Softboiled.

Also, you can be certain I won't be using "Body Slam"-- that would be silly. Seismic Toss, my friend (yes, it's one of THOSE Blisseys).

"If Alakazam carries Recover, Blissey's only way to beat Alakazam is status."

Im don't mean to flash my awesome in your face, but Alakazam is king for a reason.

And status there will obviously be--

Thunder Wave
Softboiled
Seismic Toss
Heal Bell

In a 1 on 1 fight (which would realistically never happen, but for the sake of argument) I would start off with Thunder Wave. Since you're flaunting your Alakazam's Psychic so hard, I'll assume he doesn't have any physical attacks. You'd start off with either Calm Mind or Psychic-- either way, the next turn you'll be paralyzed. Now, even if your Alakazam has Synchronize, I'll have Heal Bell to get out of it.

Next turn, I'll attack first with Seismic Toss. Alakazam has a base HP of 55, so at best your Alakazam will have 220-300 HP. No matter how you slice it, 3 seismic tosses will kill you. Seismic Toss, with its PP maxed, has 32 PP-- Recover has 16 (maxed). Every two Seismic Tosses you will HAVE to use recover, which will restore 50% HP-- not quite to full health. If you use Recover every turn to keep your health all the way full, you'll run out of PP even faster.

Now, factor in the paralysis, which will be affecting you every once in a while. Even if you ignore that part, there is still nothing you can do. You could conceivably Calm Mind every turn that you aren't either paralyzed or using Recover, and use a very powerful Psychic-- but unless it's a critical hit, even that won't kill me (even if it was, it may not). Regardless, I'll always have the first attack-- which will naturally be Softboiled, healing 50% of MY HP (which, as you know, is about 450 health).

Now, you may have noticed I've ignored the possibility of your Alakazam's fourth ability slot. That's because, no matter what it is, it won't help. Since you enjoy using Smogon, let's say it's Fire Punch. Alakazam's base attack is a laughable 50-- even against Blissey, that won't do much. If it burns me, I'll use Heal Bell.

Now let's say you employ that Encorezam (I assume your Alakazam isn't one of these because in your last post you referred to the Trickbander strategy). Substitute on the first turn-- I make the mistake of using Thunder Wave. You'll probably Encore this-- which would be very unfortunate, however, it's unlikely your Alakazam would be able to use enough Calm Minds (assuming your kazam HAS calm mind, which it very well may not, since in this strategy it's either Calm Mind or recover) and/or Psychics during that time to kill Blissey. Once I get out of Encore, I'll naturally use Softboiled. If you happen to use Encore again-- well, I'll just heal myself for a few turns. If not, you'll probably continue to Psychic me. Once I am nice and healthy, I'd seismic toss you and get rid of the sub. You can see where this is going... I could type for hours, but the result will always be the same.

Anyway. Yeah. That's that.

EDIT: And all this ignores the fact that, in an actual match, I would never leave my Blissey out to take on your Alakazam for very long-- just long enough to absorb a powerful psychic and possibly paralyze you. Likewise, a smart opponent would probably switch their kazam out at the first sign of Blissey anyway.

I used to play Yellow back in the day. And I just picked up the Pokemon LE DS. Maybe it will inspire me to try some of the new ones (if I can ever find them)

I liked Pokemon enough to read through that whole bunch of 'strategy text' and follow along without a problem. But I tend to not discuss it in public because it's my secret guilt. I love the cartoon, I love the games, and I love the card games. My only problem is that every time a new game comes out, I just see more of the same Pokemon I saw in the previous games.

Otherwise, it's a fun little diversion from my normal games. Something that can relax me and let me kick back.

I love everything about the pokemon franchise, except for the TV show. I'm pretty sure they use the exact same layout for every episode.

Ash is walking
Team Rocket is poor and hungry
Team Rocket tries to catch pikachu
Team Rocket fails and "Blasts off"
Ash and his buddies keep going forward, apparently in the direction that Team Rocket blasted off towards.
Repeat.

I can't be the only one who notices this...
