I feel your pain, I too am somewhat of a stickler for (what I consider to be) correct pronunciation. I'm a New Zealander, and I say wroth. It sounds more awesomely old-testamenty - "The rath of God" doesn't sound good to me. However, I do have a predisposition to steer towards English pronunciation in general.BuGGaTon said:I'm English indeed. Crudus is inaccurate, however. If one checks a "British" English dictionary they'll find that it's both "Wroth" or "Wrath" (Scots) so in England and Wales the correct pronunciation is Wroth but in Scotland (and Ireland, which isn't part of the UK or Britain) it is Wrath. In the rest of the world it's probably wrath too. It isn't something that upsets me, unlike people saying Sked-you-al when they surely mean Shed-yule (Schedule). I'm j/k of course, that doesn't bother me either but it's the same as Wrath. The former is Eng/Welsh and the latter Rest of World.
Regardless I still find it funny when people say it differently especially if they're from my country and are getting it wrong. Everyone else is fine because it's correct in their version of the language and I have no problem with this XD
Verily!BuGGaTon said:... in the sexual sense? How many times have you honestly invited a man/woman to "Feel your wrath"? You are verily a bum hat!tellmeimaninja said:FEEL MY WROTH sounds wrong in both the literal and sexual sense.
Yep beet me too it, that is exactly where my mind went to when I read the OP.lewism247 said:Snarky Username said:Well do you pronounce escape "Es-cahp" or "Es-cayp"

I think that's how the OP pronounces it.
OP: Es-cay-pist is the correct way to say it.
I'm pretty sure it's referring to the idea of escapism, where you play video games (or take intravenous drugs, or dress up like a squirrel, or whatever) to "Escape" the real world.TheMann said:I actually sort of thought it was supposed to be ee-scapist. You know a play on words, sort of. Since this is a site about electronic media, like e-mail. Eh, whatever.
Yep, what this guy said. Base word is escape, which is not pronounced "es-cahp" either, unless maybe you have a fun accent or something.NeedAUserName said:Es-cay-pist, you know, how its actually pronounced.
Really? Odd...Marter said:I pronounce it the same way your friend does.
