Never fired one, never seen one fired, just a few times seen one in person. I live in Italy and they are very rare here, only police forces and hunters have them. If you ask me, that's a very good thing.

On the topic of gun control: if guns are widely available to citizens, it doesn't matter that most will not use them or will use them sparingly and wisely, they will also be widely available to criminals who will use them more and to commit crimes (duh).
Less guns = less gun-related crimes.
Though I respect you and your opinion I believe that your logic is some what flawed. Two reasons why;
first violent crime, and criminals will happen regardless of the tool. Gun related crimes may go down, but knife related crime will go up. Because its not about the gun, its about the power It gives you over everyone else. Take one weapon away and it will just be replaced with another. And two, only law abiding citizens follow the laws. Less guns means less guns for responsible citizens. Criminals will find a way to get a gun. So less guns means that you'r disarming the law abiding population rather than the criminal element. Any ways thats what I believe when it comes to this subject. And yes I do live in the USA, and that is probably the reason we have vastly different thoughts on the issue.
Also I own several guns, and I shoot them every once in awhile.

Yes, I have fired three different types of guns. Shoot me if I can remember what they were.

I don't fire them often, but honestly I don't see what anyone has against the owning of guns anyway.
Because you can use them to kill people?
Yeah, because there are just SO MANY people running around just killing people with guns for no reason. If somebody wants to kill someone else, they're gonna make it happen regardless of whether or not they own guns. Guns just make it go that much faster.
It's not much of an issue that people use them to kill one person, it's when nutcases go and shoot down half their school. When was the last time you heard of a knife masacre?
Never, because there is a more powerful weapon, the gun. However I believe that violent people are violent. Without access to a gun, why not a knife. If guns were banned I bet that the number of knife attacks would greatly rise, and we very might here a knife massacre. Thats just my two cent's.

Where is the "Yes, I shoot guns regularly but don't own one" option?

Many Brits in the UK can very easily sign up to rifle ranges and shoot anything from .22 to .75 at targets without owning a gun or lisence.

I am a member of our county club and do it for leisure/ sport. Anyone, even kids as young as 13 can participate.

I have fired a handgun and a rifle. I'm from the United States. I don't mind guns at all. If they were illegal, only the criminals would have them.

And I'm leaving now, because I get sick of looking at all the bitching and whining other people always do in these threads about guns being evil.

You know, come to think of it... if the zombies ever do show up... Europe is just SCREWED. No guns, no will to act (except in Glasgow maybe), and the politicians will be calling for dialouge instead of fighting.
Not heard of Switzerland? They will save us all. Also where do you think all the disgruntled soviet arms dealers unloaded all of their weapons? Europe is armed we just dont cling to a ragged old piece parchment that allows everyone and their mum to be packin heat.

I live in Sweden.
You know, that peacefull country that spawned meatballs, blonde chicks with huge tits and *shiver* IKEA.
Suprisingly enough, there is quite a firearms fetish here, at least around 70% of the population have a certain familiarity with guns.
Myself, only being 17, have already had the luck to fire of a huge collection of pistols (Glocks, SIG-Sauers, S&Ws, you name it), a few hunting rifles, an army grade AK5 and a modified AK-47.
Then again, I know all the gun nuts, and some close friends to my family owned a shooting range at one point, so I guess that's just been a natural part of my life.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm in Australia - the US's slightly older and much cooler brother. You know, the one that everyone prefers to hang out with and go to the pub with.
Wat?
1776 (July 4 Deceleration of Independence is signed) is younger than 1788(British colonization)? are we going backwards? i am so confused right now. I can not tell if your serious or not.

OT: i have and i own two but rarely get out to shoot them.
We laid claim in 1770.
if you want to go buy lay claim and not when Australia became a country(I know that what i did not go by either), The Spanish were here in 1558, English in 1606, Dutch in 1625, France in 1534. Lay claim means demand as being one's due or property; assert one's right or title to, so yeah.

My option isn't up there. I have shot a gun on two occasions, during clay pigeon shooting. Was a day trip that my brothers and I did together. So it was a shotgun, 20 gauge if my memory is right and/or that makes sense.
In other words I have shot a gun, but do not own one. Oh, and I'm English.

I've never shot a gun, unless you count a BB gun. I would like to fire a gun just to know what it feels like. I'd love for it to be a P90, god I love those things.

British... Scottish. My dad shoots pheasants and the like, so I've done a wee bit of shooting with shotguns. We also own a couple of .22 rifles. Also shot a stripped down version of the SA80 rifle in the Combined Cadet Force at school. Good fun.

I've been shooting since quite young, targets, clays and hunting.

Joined the Infantry, am qualified on every small arm in the US inventory plus a few mediums. Consider myself a fair expert with the M-4/M-16 and the M-24.

Since my separation from military service, I've acquired a few weapons, a shotgun for birds and trap. A rifle for deer, a .22 pistol for Bullseye matches and two handguns for Concealed Carry (for which I am properly licensed). I shoot all year round, usually once or twice a week, Trap in the summer, pistol league in the winter.

I used to love archery, and bow season for whitetails is a perfect time of year to be out in the woods, but unfortunately some injuries have left me unable to use a bow properly, so I gave my Mathews to my brother. I kept my longbow, just for sentimental purposes, it hangs in my living room. :)

No, I'd love to but to own a gun in England you HAVE to belong to some sort of hunting club/shooting group with costs £'s, get it registerd and then I think you can only own certain types of gun (I do believe even pistols aren't allowed, I'm not to good with gun law in England)

Yeah, I was in the schools sniper team (as a sport club, not junior assassins club) in high school.

And also I used to go hunting with my godfather. His 424 sniper rifle is the biggest gun I've shot.

Sarge, I got a question for you: when do you think is a good age for a kid to start learning how to fire a real bow and arrow?

You see, my cousin is on some "outdoors man" kick and he wants to get his ten year old son involved. I have my reservations and I have gotten multiple opinions on it. I was wondering what your advice would be.
