these polls need LESS OPTIONS! Honestly, does it really tell us anything when the largest majority is 20 percent? I'm just saying, these polls often seem tacked on to add substance to an otherwise monotonous thread.

Didn't have the option that fit me.

Yes, my friend owned it.

I've shot an M1 Grand (and yes the clip pings when it runs out)

I've shot an AK-47 (I can see why it's the weapon of the 3rd world. It's solid, and feels like you can bury it in dirt for a year, dig it up, brush it off, and have it work).

edit: USA

No ive never shot a gun, an i don't want to. What country do i live in? I travel so much it's difficult to say. Living in Kenya now, but im moving to Canada in a few weeks.
If what u really wanna know is bout cultural differences, then i guess im Swedish (kinda), which might explain my lack of understanding for the need for civilians to have firearms (or not, considering a certain popularity of hunting in Sweden).

I fired my handgun today. On Saturday, I'm competing in the "East Sweden Fieldshooting Championships" (my very loose translation of "Östsvenska mästerskapen i fältskjutning", for those of you who read Swedish.) Wish me luck!

Can't say I enjoyed the shotgun, it scared me. Recoil hurt like hell.
Then you're doing it wrong. You have to shove that ***** into your shoulder and command the firearm. If you're scared of it, it will bite like an angry whore. If you respect it, and take full control of it, it'll give you the time of your life. Also, if you own the firearm, you can install a rubber butt pad to cushion the blow. If you're still having trouble, then you might consider switching to airsoft.

Note: The tone this post is meant to be read in is redneck father talking to redneck son. Or hunting buddy. In other words, I mean no insult to you personally.
Proper control or not, I don't like shotguns.

You forgot one option - yes, but I don't own it.

I've been clay pigeon shooting 4 times now. Pleased to say i'm of reasonable skill. Shame I don't own a shotgun for when the zombies come. :/

I have an air pistol too which is much less scary. Ooh and I've fired blanks out of an M9 (which was so loud I 'felt' it in my chest... not nice).

That robot chap above reminded me - hi I'm in the UK too.

no i have never shot a gun, there is not much call for shooting firearms. people on the other hand....

the proper phrase would be 'fired a gun' because to shoot something is to fire a weapon at it.

I can't vote because the option that applies to my experience is not present.

I have shot at pop cans with a rifle while at camp lol. But I don't own a gun. I live in the US.

You know, come to think of it... if the zombies ever do show up... Europe is just SCREWED. No guns, no will to act (except in Glasgow maybe), and the politicians will be calling for dialouge instead of fighting.
Thats bullshit.
And atleast we could outrun them ;)

Several years ago at a Boyscout camp, I shot some kind of gun at a rifle range. It might have been some kind of rifle, not sure. If boyscout didn't give it away, this was in America.

I've fired a 9mm once, and a rifle with very small bullets (still had gunpowder and would kill someone if used rightly) in a shooting range. I liked it, the smell and how the weapon aimed, not me. At least that was how i felt it. My parents don't own guns and neither do i.

There wasn't even a opinion in the poll for my case, that is : have fired, but neither my parents or me own one). But hey, i understand you can't have ALL the opinions in there.

Anyways, i live in Estonia (haah!) and went to the shooting range with my class. I actually won a cup ( that is ,a drinking glass, not an award thingy) since i shot decently.

Even trough i know how dangerous they are, i kinda want to try to fire more. I don't care about the loud noise, actually i dislike it, but i like the accuracy, if that sentence makes any sense. So basically, i want to use them for sport, since i seem to have a bit luck shooting those.
There not that dangerous. If properly maintained the weapon will not jam and malfunction. If you and the people shooting with you know gun safety and use it you wont get shot. Overall guns have a reputation for being super dangerous, but if you know what your doing and treat the weapon with the respect it deserves its safe.

Was in the norwegian army for a year where I got to shoot loads of bullets, after that I've been firing shotguns for hunting practise, not mine though
