Poll: Poll: the scariest surival horror games?

I know this thread isn't the most original thing to some out today but i was wondering what the escapist thought was the scariest survival series/game. For me its eternal darkness, especially if you let the sanity meter stay up.

System Shock series.

The tension and atmosphere that game creates along with the brutal difficulty makes the game(especially the second) wet your pants scary.

I thought Dead Space was frightening. If a LittleBigPlanet version of the game nearly scared the pants off me, it says loads about the real game.

The Silent Hill series, System Shock was scary for it's time but it hasn't aged that well, F.E.A.R. wasn't scary to me period, and I never played Eternal Darkness...

of those, i'd go Eternal Darkness as i haven't played the rest enough to be able to compare them. my actual number 1 would be Shadow Man. i played the N64 version and, my GOD, did it creep me out

Otherwise, Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Straight up scariest has to go to Fatal Frame, but best is a tie between Silent Hill and Fatal Frame.

Hands down, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Penumbra was scary too, but to me, Amnesia screws with your head better.

Only played F.E.A.R and RE series out of those choices, so I'm gonna have to go F.E.A.R series. RE5 shouldn't even be classed as a horror game in my opinion.

Also, Dead Space was pretty scary. And a few moments in Bioshock were pretty tense as well.

Mmmm, silent hill or System shock is a bit of a hard choice.
Im gonna go with SS2. Besides being my favorite anyway, i think it scared me much more during play at the time.

System shock. Manages to creep you out with just atmosphere. Very rarely there is a jump scare, something that the Resident evil series has too much

Silent Hill 2 is the only game that scared me,
and I never played Fatal Frame
all the other games startled me, maybe freaked me out
but Silent Hill 2 scares you days after you stop playing
