I've never really watched Powerpuff girls and so I'm going to have to say MLP:FiM, it's kept my attention for the most part during it's run which for a cartoon is a pretty good success.
ARE YOU CAUSING FORUM SHENANIGANS AGAIN?!
>.> <.<

NO, NOTHING IS OUT OF THE ORDINARY. PLEASE REPORT IMMEDIATELY TO THE PUB CLUB FOR COLLECTION.

OT: Haven't changed my mind since yesterday, still in favour of the ponies ;-)

I remember watching PPG when I was a kid, not religiously like but on occasion, and that was me being a boy which at first glance seems strange, but PPG wasn't that over the top on the girly pink stuff so it probably didn't scare off as many boys as other programs at the time that weren't exclusively aimed at boys. Which makes sense really because I remember PPG being quite violent and packed with butt kicking action.

So yeah Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup might have been girls which can be off putting for young boys, but they were seriously cool ass kicking girls so I don't think it was that much of a problem for boys. MLP however seems to be on the far end of the spectrum and while I know there is a brony community I think it's probably too off putting for a lot of guys and definitely a lot of young boys. So for me PPG takes this easily.

MLP. Better animation, better characters, better voice actors, better plots, better villains, better music.

PPG was something I watched only when Dexter's Lab or Johnny Bravo wasn't on.

It's close. Close close close.

I prefer MLP, just because the character dynamic between the main cast is better.

Also one of the things I like about MLP is that the characters are adults, and to me that gives their growth a little more weight.

But Power Puff Girls had that Beat-all's episode...
PPG had a lot of amazing episodes, but they were all just episodes. MLP as a whole is a better show, to me, but it's really fucking close.

Discord's not better than HIM or Mojo Jojo or the Gang Green Gang, or Fuzzy Lumpkins.

And the other MLP villains are who? Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon? The love sucking shape shifter?

Power Puff Girls has better bad guys

MLP's got better writing, acting and animation, but not bad guys.

How can you not pick Powerpuff Girls? That's golden age animation right there.

PPG by far, if only for consistency. The fact that it was pretty much a straight up superhero parody as well is pretty awesome. Also revival this year.

Gonna link RebelTaxi's retrospective because why not:

Powerpuff Girls. Because Him.

A drag-queen devil as one of the main villains? That took some guts to pull off.

PPG because of Bubbles and Buttercup. They both are righteous asskickers... little psycho bitches... creepy.
EDIT: And MojoJojo

The shows are not my cup of tea. Of course if I was forced to watch one of them, I would probably pick the Powerpuff Girls. Thats not saying much.

Discord's not better than HIM or Mojo Jojo or the Gang Green Gang, or Fuzzy Lumpkins.
He's better than all the PPG villains combined by leaps and bounds. He isn't even a villain, and that is why he is better. Chaos doesn't really have an alignment or agenda, he just happens to be against the protagonists when he is introduced. Also, he when he is on screen he is a scream which is much more than I can say for PPG villains.

Nightmare Moon is my favorite because of the character design and tragic back story.

"The love sucking shapeshifter" appeared in the wedding episode that everyone thought was going to be abysmal. She is popular because its close to Disney villain territory. She even has her own Disney villain song that has 15,980,945 views on youtube. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Mojo Jojo: redundant monkey with a stupid billowing cape

HIM: don't even really know what he is besides creepy and annoying to listen to

Gangreen Gang: edgy teenagers?

Fuzzy Lumpkins: had to look this one up since I'd forgotten. The hillbilly sasquatch thing? I don't even...

And the other MLP villains are who? Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon?
I'd call them more foils than atagonists or villains, just kids being bullies.

Of the child-aimed TV shows that ended up gathering a large adolescent fanbase due to their sheer high quality, the main two are MLP and Powerpuff girls.
Batman TAS would like a word with you.
How many of those fans were adults in 1993? Like 25+?

I'm not trying to be snarky, I just remember a lot of adults that didn't like the show because it was too kiddie and stylized compared to the comics and other cartoons, Bruce Wayne sounded too gay, or they just didn't care about Batman.

Too many of these PPG Vs MLP arguments are built on "This show was awesome when I was ten".

This is hilarious. I like the people arguing for PPG as if it was somehow majorly different from MLP:FiM. Aside from one being about superheroes fighting supervillains and the other being about ponies on adventures, they're REALLY REALLY similar...for a reason. That reason's name is Lauren Faust.

Lauren Faust
Storyboard artist, writer, and director of:
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
- Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
- The Powerpuff Girls

But yea. Both shows are great. PPG is a bit more mindless because everything ultimately revolves are battling supervillains, while MLP:FiM is a bit less action-packed and more about the characters and story.

Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash are almost the same exact characters and Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup....except one set is ponies and the other are human(ish).

I prefer MLP:FiM

(Also, Powerpuff Girls Z is bizarre....)

Voted for Power Puff Girls as I find MLP a touch saccharine

The Poll should have added Dexter's Lab though... DeeDee is so awesome! :p

I am going to go with The Powerpuff girls because that was a large part of my life growing up, alongside Courage the cowardly dog, Dexter's lab, The grim adventures of Billy and Mandy etc. I could never get into My little pony.

I've grown up with PPG, and I've watched a bit recently on Netflix and it's still solid (in fact I find it funnier now than I did as a kid.)

MLP is... meh. Nothing really special. Just a cute show for young girls that somehow gained an insanely huge following, and I find it insane how people try to pull a deeper meaning out of the thing.
