I pretty darn good usually. Though I do sometimes replay games with multiple choices doing exactly the opposite of what I had done in real life (my first playthrough is pretty much always good though).

I go with my first playthrough with good choices and after I finish it,if it bares repeating for another ending I -try- going evil side, even though I hate the outcomes.

Not so often I manage to pull them through so I get either a neutral result or more of a "chaotic good" finish.

I almost always play as a good guy, promising to be the bad guy on my second play through...however, I've yet to play a game that's interested me enough for two plays.
If you haven't yet, Try TES Oblivion.

I generally always Play good as I feel guilty after an hour of evilness and restart to a new game. Though that said, I'm not above dicking around like taking the Archimedes II in F:NV. I just use my paragon-ness to not activate the plant defenses!

I look out for me, and usually that means being a dick here and there. I'm sometimes a saint but only if it profits me.

I generally go for the freedom and happy bunnies for all approach, but it doesn't stop me from nicking your stuff and generally slitting a few throats if it'll help me get ahead.
Arcanum is my barometer here. I'm the guy who explodes the engine for Dunne and then fixes it when he won't give me any more stuff. I tell Cedric I'll kill Bates and sell him out almost immediately; not immediately, mind you. If I did that, I wouldn't be allowed in Bates's warehouse where there's a valuable schematic that the Thieves Underground wants.
But y'know when I've saved the town, I think I'm allowed a few dalliances. When all is said and done, you won't have any evil sorcerers or demon horrors to worry about. ...Just don't keep quest items or good equipment in your house and you'll be fine. ^_^ (Also, I walk around in a smoking jacket when I'm not in battle because I like being a charismatic prick.)

EDIT: I typically refuse payment for good deeds because by then I've already robbed countless merchants blind.

I have the same problem in almost every game like that.

As examples, I've tried playing as a Renegade in Mass Effect, but I just can't. Everytime I try to, I always end up pussing out and being a goody-goody. In fact, I've ended up winning ME 1&2 several times, the exact same way -_-'
I just like the characters and never want to be an a*hole to them...Though, I act the same way in any MMO, I always try to be...nice?

Though in Fable and Fallout 3, I generally get aggrivated and start killing everything. Leading to a pretty bad character. Guess it just depends on the game.

I usually do what I think is right. Those who beg for mercy and don't try to shoot me afterwards I let live, and I try not to harm civillians (except the time in prototype where I ate an old lady then started punching people into the water.)

Being good makes you feel good. And in games I tend to have billions of whatever currency they use, so not giving it away has no real point. But in real life I also can't help it when a homeless bum comes up to me asking for money for a sandwich. Once, this happened to me, and I gave him some change, even though I had some sandwiches(lunch) with me that I knew I wasn't going to eat. Later he passed me again(it was on the train station, waiting for my connexxion)with pockets filled with so much change he had could't walk normally anymore. I honestly regret giving him money for what I presume to be booze and more booze.(alcohol)

Dang you, conscience!

I don't find it IMPOSSIBLE to be an asshole, but I do naturally gravitate towards being a good guy.
First playthrough is always good. It's like I don't even have a choice in the matter.

After that, though, I can be evil whenever I want. Which, admittedly, is usually only for like two or three playthroughs, but whatever.

I can do both!

In Fallout 3, I had three characters: qood, evil, and neutral, and all of them were fun & natural to play. In New Veqas, I've had two qood characters and one evil character. Of course, I'm not done playinq.

Well, except for Jonas. I can never be cruel to Jonas. Best character in Fallout 3.

this is probably affected by the minor symptoms of multiple personality disorder that i exhibit so hooray

I find it harder to be good.

Because when your forced with the option of persuading someone to give you something or putting a lot of bullets in them I tend to go to the one which gives me less hassle.

Depends on my mood. If I have companions in a game I desperately want them to like me so I try not to piss them off. Sometiems I am happy to slay the prick who keeps holding me up, but ont the other hand if someone needs help I'll usually stop and help them.

Me and the writers of the game often have disputes about what is good. The biggest conundrum I've encountered is that of The New Californian Republic in FNV.

I certainly want to be on their good side when the shit hits the fan, and they are better than Caesars legion (hey I take racism over slavery of whoever any day), but it just seems that in almost all of the quests they ask me to do I end up royally fucking some other people I've been trying to build up a reputation in.
I think that's the point they're trying to get across. The NCR might look like the good guys, but deep down they're just selfish, corrupt pricks. And Ceasar is actually a pretty cool guy, he just has an inflated ego :)
Well yeah, except again, Caesar promotes slavery... so... theres that.

Tends to happen to I as well. Being unnecessarily cruel leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I do enjoy being forced to make tough decisions though. :p
