does anyone else wonder how much the governments save by using criminal workgangs...
no one seems to think of making the prisoners work to profit from them, instead they decide its better to outright kill them.
giving economic reasons is bullshit.
Clearly we don't have any theives or non-violent criminals in the prisons.
Clearly only rapists and murderers get prison time.
CLEARLY the workgangs are made up of only violent offenders, like rapists and murderers.
Yeah...
despite excessive use of the word clearly that suggests sarcasm, i can't see your point.
why kill people that can give you a profit, unless of course, you really just want them dead, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the money.
You made it seem like only rapists and murderers were used for the public works work gangs.
In fact, I think they are used very rarely.
Even then, do you really want rapists and murderers working in an enviroment that could let them escape?
You could probably get more of a profit televising their deaths than you would have them working.
Even then, I fail to see a shortage of prisoners who could be used for these workgangs, even when you deny it to all rapists and murderers.

Yes, the best way is in a pressure chamber, slowly decreasing the amount of oxygen in the room sending the victims into a state of euphoria (and confusion) before dying, after a certain point they'll even refuse a oxygen mask.

It should be public on a 24 hour TV channel, showing executions from different countries around the clock. Or a multi-channel 1-a-day broadcast.

I fully support the death penalty. However only if the court is 100% sure they are guilty. For example plenty of eye witnesses, video, DNA which is confirmed by at least 3 different labs. Shit like that.
So if they are fully sure the person did it then yeah, have the gallows set up out back so the very minute they are sentenced they are marched out back and executed.
One I would particularly love is like the guillotine, have them facing upwards towards the blade, cut the rope just long enough that they can just keep hold of it at their max arm length then just leave them there. As long as they can keep hold they stay alive. It only ends when they give up.
Would also be awesome to do to rapists just have a smaller one for their wangs.

I tell ya, seeing that shit happen would sure as hell scare me more than the pussy injection or gas chamber.
Oh, here's the antispetic swab.
Just so you don't get that last minute infection.

Executions, yes. Public executions, no. I agree with the death penalty, but don't do it publicly.

This is why I hate repeat threads. This is a thread that could actually warrant extensive discussion. And it did when I posted in an earlier created thread, now I don't care enough to go find what I said there.

Well, to tell you the truth I never thought Ghandi was so great. But that is just me I guess. Like I said above, get rid of all people who kill and rape. The world will be a better place.
Hey, I didn't know Light Yagami was on here!

On-topic, I am against the death penalty in general. I wrote a paper on it for my political science class, addressing the weaknesses and strengths on both sides, and I got an A- or B+ on it, so I'm not misinformed. I just believe that the risk of executing an innocent person is too high, and still happens too much for me to support it. Also, statistics [http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/murder-rates-1996-2007] show that the death penalty does not seem to act as a deterrent at all. Just the opposite, in fact.

So, seeing as I'm against the death penalty as a whole, I'm obviously against public execution.

The death penalty is stupid. It has no point. Nobody commits such a serious crime like murder thinking that they will get caught.
I was refering to what you said in your post about murders not seriously commiting the crime think they will get away

Yes. I find it entertaining.
No you don't, your just saying that because you think it makes you sound cool. And it doesnt.
That doesn't change my views on the issue. Pointing it out doesn't make you sound cool either. I can feed my ego when I want.

What on Earth are you talking about? Seriously, I have no idea.

In my post I said that people do not commit crimes thinking that they will get caught, so harsh punishments are not an effective deterrent against crime.

Shit yeah! This would hugely deter major crimes. Plus who doesn't want to see the guillotine dusted off and put back into use?

To be fair, the guillotine was never truly used for justice.
During the French Revolution, it was just used to kill nobles for being nobles.
And in WWII, the Nazi's also used it to just kill.
