Public Executions are mostly to spread your rule through fear, but if thats what the Government wants, its what it wants.

But eh, if mistakes happen then so be it. Better a innocent man dies than 10 guilty go free to ruin other peoples live.
You have no concept of justice.
Yeah, you quoted me wrong. Should have been.

But eh, if mistakes happen then so be it. Better a innocent man dies than 10 guilty go free to ruin other peoples lives.

So no. You are the one with no concept of justice. You would happily have more people put at risk and that is why society is turning to shit.
I agree. If push came to shove for me, and the Police or whoever came to me telling me that I had to die, or 10 criminals guilty of Rape/Murder and will most likely repeat what they did, I would gladly be killed.

You know, Sacrifice yourself to save more people?

You selfish bastard. (Not you Avykins)

In the US alone, how many states with the death penalty have lower murder rates than ones without the death penalty?

Thats what I thought.

You cannot decide whether human beings live or die if you are treating them as numbers.

Wilfully allowing innocent people to be killed in the name of justice, is not justice, no matter what arbitrary numbers you tack onto it.

And believe me, you'd agree with me if you ended up being that one in ten.

1 death is a tragedy.
A million is but a statistic.

I've always been curious what the pro-death penalty retards would say if they found out they or their loved ones were going to be executed for a crime they didn't commit.

"I'm going to die for something I didn't do, but at least its better than 10 guilty people going free!" doesn't strike me as a particularly likely reaction.

I have to agree with you, but I'm the 'for the greater good' kind of guy (which I guess means I'm the bad guy). I would have an innocent person killed in order to have 10 criminals killed as opposed to on the streets raping and killing and essentially creating more criminals/ruining other lives.

Shit yeah! This would hugely deter major crimes. Plus who doesn't want to see the guillotine dusted off and put back into use?
To be fair, the guillotine was never truly used for justice.
During the French Revolution, it was just used to kill nobles for being nobles.
And in WWII, the Nazi's also used it to just kill.
Fair enough. Public hanging works too.

Pfft, justice is just revenge by committee. The whole concept is bullshit but its only real purpose is to protect the masses. Therefore whatever saves the majority is the right course of action.
How would you feel looking in the eyes of the victims of those 10 that went free? All those extra lives destroyed, especially if they commit multiple offences, their families. All because you would rather feel morally superior than ensure the safety of the population.
You know what? If you think justice if a bullshit concept then you obviously do not appreciate living in a free society, and I pity you for that.

No, I'd want them to rot in jail in pain and misery until their inevitable demise...

A point: lets ignore the possibility of an innocent for now and imagine the person we have is the culprit.

Said culprit is helpless and harmless to the population at large, being in custody. How is killing this person protecting anyone, when they are no longer a threat?

Actually, the last use of the guillotine in France was in 1977. It was France's official method of execution until France abolished capital punishment.

Well, given the current US justice system, it's approximately 3 times cheaper to give them a 60 year sentence than to execute them, so from a financial standpoint, I'm going to have to say no.
