Ok heres the the scene:A 28 year old man with no previous record has murded a 21 year old girl by stranglimg her after she had cheated on him then publicy telled every one on radio just to spite him.
She had not told him about her cheating before hand, she was murded that night. Before this crime he was a pefectly stable man with a good steady job.
He has been brought to court and now you have the job of choosing his fate. What will you do out of all the choices(as shown in the poll).

Uh... 25 years to life? Y'know, what someone would normally get for this kind of crime.

Yes, all acts of homicide should be dealt with using extreme force. I don't want to pay for murderers to eat better than bums and get free cable tv.

EDIT: there is one way to appease both crowds. The people who don't want to pay and the people who don't want to kill. And it is this...

Everyone convicted of a serious enough crime should be sent to a large island in the south pacific and dropped off on the beach. All of them on the same island. Fend for themselves, create their own convict laws and do whatever the hell they want. Set a couple coastguard boats to patrol the waters in case they decide to make a raft. That is it. Problem solved.

Why don't you just make 3 options? 25 years, life without parole or death.., The others are dumb and unnecessary. And I choose death.

I was tempted to select "nothing" just to by cynical... but I'd have to say life sentence. Death sentence is just as barbaric and cruel as the crime commited. Besides, most people get released before dying in cases of life sentences... I'd hope he'd learnt his lesson.

If he commits the crime again, don't give him a death sentence [small]but I will strangle him in his sleep[/small]

Life in prison. And let's add some forced labour, he should have to pay for his stay.
There's no reason why the taxpayer should suffer for his comfortable lodgings.

Let the man go free. She cheated then humiliated him. He had the balls to do what needed to be done.
Hell give the man a medal. Put him on the $1 bill.
Does this mean we should go kill my father, or something?
Revenge is pointless. She acted like a *****, but he was the victim. The chick should have been humiliated by her own behavior.

She had it comin' man. Still, we can't not punish people for murder just cause the person had it coming.

10 year sentence.

Well, how long ago did she go on radio and announce it? Or tell him she was cheating, because more than likely it would be temporary insanity(crime of passion) if it was immediately after finding out. If this was the case then he most likely would receive a minimal sentence plus psychiatric testing and therapy, so I voted for other.

It's cheaper to put them in jail for life then to execute them.

And this scenario doesn't really give you much to go on. What was the mental state of the guy? Was he fairly average, did he have emotional instabilities beforehand? What was the time span between the cheating, the on air humiliation, and the murder? It's important to know this to determine his state of mind. Could make the difference between First and Second Degree Murder, or even a trip to the psych ward.

I vote we take a page from the Adeptus Mechanicus and have him lobotomised, chunks of his brain replaced with circuitry, bionic attachments grafted onto his meat and infuse what's left of him with a machine spirit. Then staple guns to him and have him go mow down some pesky chaos cultists, before he's brought down by a plasma blast.

You've not provided me with enough evidence to convince me it is premeditated murder.

It could be manslaughter, and from what you've said, it seems more like a Crime of Passion [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_of_passion] and temporary insanity, not murder.

None of the punishments for murder listed in the poll seem like a good choice in this case, since it's clearly not murder.

25 to life. I feel for him though-situation sucks but murder seems a might extreme for cheating and gloating.

Indeed, however australia was way to big and was desirable to live there. I'm thinking something smaller like easter island. Though not that island specifically. Something around that size. Or maybe a little bigger, after all, there are a lot of cons out there.

That statement literally does not compute. I read it three times and i can't feel anything towards it. I hope to god you are joking because the urges to laugh, be appalled, and be astounded all compete and ultimate leaving me with a serious case of WTF.
