It is not ignorant to assume that sniper rifles do not work well at close range. Real life snipers even have spotters, and part of their job is to keep the sniper safe using conventional weapons.

Ummm, did you forget an option?

What about stealth classes? I like stealth.
My bad. I agree that stealth play is viable and very VERY fun. =D
I'd almost say that it was the ONLY option back in MW2. It minimized a lot of the BS.

I am disappointed to see Stopping Power leave. It was nice having a perk that all the noobs would flock to so that no one sees UAV jammer/Camouflage/Cold Blooded coming.
Yeah haha.
I always did a Stealth/Sniper Mix with Scavenger Pro, Cold Blooded Pro, Steady Aim Pro, and my trusty Intervention FMJ.
Move, Aim, Shoot, Plant C4. Move, Aim, Shoot, Check old spot. Move, Aim, Shoot, Own noob checking my old spot with C4.
The way it should be =D

Just a note, you would be better off with WA2000 if you don't have stopping power. It has the same killing power as the Intervention/Barret without it.

But MW2 is last year's game so I guess that doesn't matter.

EDIT: Quoting the wrong post FTL.
Haha, I was kinda surprised seein' this one quoted XD
Just before I edited my mistake too :p
Sleight of Hand is my Assault Perk
Scavvy is my Sniper Perk XD

Yeah, guys.
Exploiting an aim-assist along with a perk that makes you aim super fast is super hard to pull off. Plus, it blesses Youtube with tons and tons of awesome montage videos all using that awesome song from a million years ago: 'Bodies' by Drowning Pool (Only the best song EVAR! WHATWHAT!?!).

Plus the game isn't about realism! I mean, sure I'd hate it if shotguns were suddenly accurate from across the map, or if assault rifles had zero spread when fired from the hip, but quick-scoping is serious business. My brother's dog-walker's cousin's dry-cleaner's Nephew's girlfriend's brother is a Marine sniper, and he uses quickscope in the field. For realz.

Treyarch seriously screw up this time.
And you guys have no idea what you're talking about.
I'll be off making another montage video with that same badass song in MW2.
Find me online! My gamer tag is: XXxxXXxxXXzzzzz!!!!11111quixxxsscooooopppe$$$ss$Sss4lyyyfffee!!!!12221XxxxxxX

But seriously for a moment: This news makes me happy.
Screw quick-scoping.

Ok, I am going to say this. ONE LAST TIME

The only part of aim assist that helps during something that you could call quickscoping is called dragscoping, where you scope and drag your scope over someone whereupon the aim assist, slightly slows down and you can take a shot, this makes it minimally less hard to do.

As for realism, if CoD was semi realistic then half the shit that's in there wouldn't be in there, heck, you want realism? Play Operation Flashpoint, CoD is about fun.

The rest of your post is basically ad hominem trolling, so I won't bother with that.

You know, we wouldn't have this problem if they brought back unscoped Bolt Action Rifles.

Sure you don't see that in real life, but guns in real life don't work like they do in this game. It takes three our four hits to kill someone while a bolt action rifle only takes one. But there is the obvious disadvantage of its rate of fire. If you miss, it is catastrophic.

It's tried and true. And fans want it back...so...wtf.
Hell yeah, if we can have StG.44s in CoD4 and 1887s in MW2 why can't we have a bolt action rifles?

I really hope so. It's very hard to tell with CoD players/through the medium of text.

So you want a sniper rifle to stop working at close range? thats kinda dumb, it's how the gun and class works.

if you can quickscope efficiently then more power to you, figure out a strategy for beating them
They did, and it ended up with people running around with marathon, stopping power, and ninja pro, blazing their akimbo g18s and pissing everyone off instead of just the quickscopers. the big problem for me is that they werent using the proper weapon for the proper job. you use sniper rifles for long range encounters, picking off the enemies one (or two if you're a bad-ass) like you're batman in arkham asylum, lower powered assault rifles and lmgs at mid-long range, the high powered assault rifles and lmgs (and perhaps a couple of the smgs) at short-mid range, and the smgs and shotguns at the short ranges.

I am annoyed that we have to wait 2-3 seconds to be able to hit the target. I dont quick scope but if I see someone far away and I aim at him I wont be counting the seconds to know if its ok to shoot. Why not make the animation from the hip view to the scope take longer instead of this akward situation?
Well in those several moments you can line up a headshot?

I tend to throw a silencer and cold blooded style perk on my assault class and call it stealth. Works pretty well actually.

Snipers should NOT have the option of being a valid close range weapon EVER. One shot kills at close range? Hmm... sounds so damn familiar.... *gasp* SHOTGUNS!!!
Really, snipers are far overpowered given the quickscope, it makes them great in long, medium, and short range combat. No weapon should have that versatility AND that level of reliability at all ranges. Sniping as a class should be about staying at long range, picking a target, firing once, maybe twice, and moving to a new spot. Assault Rifle classes should be about the medium range, run, crouch, aim take down dude, rinse, repeat. Added bonus for Assaults, you get semi-reliable shots in long and short range. Pointman/Shotgun classes are about hip-firing and run-n-gun gameplay. Great in CQC, but catch em at a range and they're toast. All classes have their strengths and weaknesses. With Quickscoping, it makes the Sniper class dominant at ALL THREE RANGES. So I say: Good riddance to bad rubbish.

May the trolling commence.
I miss the m40 acog... I never quick scoped, but it was aesome...

Or, for a more simple solution and hopefully more balanced one, just give Crossbows the option to use regular arrows instead of exploding ones.
Just one question SomethingAmazing:

Why the f*ck aren't you in Treyarch? They need someone like you!

OT: Hell yeah! I don't care what quick-scopers think about nerfing the sniper rifle, Treyarch have the common sense to turn the sniper rifle in a long ranged camping weapon instead of a rush one hit kill gun.

<3 Treyarch. Still not getting the game though

None of the above. I always, ALWAYS flank. So much fun.
Especially in TF2 as Scout or Pyro when you can circle-strafe the opponent and kick le shits outta them.

Give me an assult rifle and I will kill you!

But yeah, good bye quick-scoping...of course, those people will find a way to quick-scope with the new programming format eventually anyway.

I always preferred an SMG with a silencer, since a lot of my encounters are close range when I'm being stealthy.
