I prefer sniping, but I quickscope on occasion. I view it as a valid tool, and I actually think it takes a lot more skill to master than a lot of people whine about.

This is the same as people who used to call for certain button combinations to be banned from fighting games because they couldn't defend against them. That was sort of the point of putting in the time to learn those combinations. It's not supposed to be even, in a fight you give yourself every advantage possible.

And don't whine about realism because in any game where you can run while shooting and still hit anything, the game you're playing is not realistic.

Ummm, did you forget an option?

What about stealth classes? I like stealth.
I tend to throw a silencer and cold blooded style perk on my assault class and call it stealth. Works pretty well actually.
I always preferred an SMG with a silencer, since a lot of my encounters are close range when I'm being stealthy.
I always find that I like to have a big hitter when using stealth to offset the potential damage loss many games put on a silencer but some SMGs work I just like the versatility of assault rifles.

Yes, ok, we get it guys, some people like quickscoping and some people don't, can't we all just move on with our lives and stop making threads about this? Everything that can be said about this has already been said.

Don't worry, your ignorant viewpoint is shared quite commonly on this site even if it's completely wrong. You don't have to worry about trolls.
It is not ignorant to assume that sniper rifles do not work well at close range. Real life snipers even have spotters, and part of their job is to keep the sniper safe using conventional weapons.
If they have to do that, they, and the sniper, have failed miserably at their job.

Look, in real life camping is king. Snipers wait in one area for days to get what they need, and if they get seen, it usually results in their death, unless they are really far away, and there are no enemies attempting to track them.

Quick-scoping is stupid, as are all the people who hate campers. Why? Because in real life those who do not camp get killed.

I've always hated snipers, but never played too many shooter games. But now that I think of it, they are a hell of an unbalanced weapon.

Now, I don't know how Black Ops works. But if I were designing a shooter I'd make snipers so they didn't have a targeting reticle until you were scoped. And you'd only be able to bring up the scope if you were moving slowly (makes sense, they're a large weapon. You can't run and gun with a sniper rifle). That way snipers would be forced to take a long-range position because the weapons would be almost useless at any other range. Plus it would have the added difficulty of NEEDING to run to a different post because you're at a huge disadvantage as soon as anyone finds you and gets closer.

erm... who cares? either extreme is irritating, but we are all still going to be playing these games (black ops) no matter what developers do, so lets stop complaining and try to enjoy ourselves.

In the end quick scoping was ruining the game. It's not fun to have to either learn a ridiculous skill or be killed by those that have over and over. Stops being much of a game around there.

You forgot the "Fast-running SMG muthafuckas" option in your poll, that's what I would have voted for, haha.

Although I am also glad that quickscoping is gone, I'm dissapointed that legitamate sniping was drastically nerfed in the process.

Seriously, I sniped perfectly fine in CoD4 and it was fun!

But will I be able to do that now? Possibly not.

So you want a sniper rifle to stop working at close range? thats kinda dumb, it's how the gun and class works.

if you can quickscope efficiently then more power to you, figure out a strategy for beating them
are you being sarcastic or serious because the whole point of a sniper is long range ant the fact that when you aim you lock onto them makes it even cheaper.

Quickscoping at close range SHOULD be pointless in FPS's anyway, at close range ou shouldn't need to aim at all, the buller is going to be coming in a straight line out of the barrel, but in most FPS's a guy can be standing 1 foot from you and you'll still manage to miss without scoping in.

I am annoyed that we have to wait 2-3 seconds to be able to hit the target. I dont quick scope but if I see someone far away and I aim at him I wont be counting the seconds to know if its ok to shoot. Why not make the animation from the hip view to the scope take longer instead of this akward situation?
Well in those several moments you can line up a headshot?
lol, but my main problem is that if he is on the center of the reticle he should get shot. They could also make the weapon sway more when you first aim. Its just that I doesnt make sence to have a reticle that in the end doesnt tell the player if he is on target or not.

Modern Warfare has nothing on the sheer broken power of the Sniper Rifle from UT 99'.
Near-Semi-automatic head-popper. 50 shots. No reload. Perfect, wide-view scope. 100% precision.
No spread.

Strategy? Try moving a bit. Aim for the shoulders and head.
It's ludicrously easy to get head shots even at point-blank range.

I was always better at hard scoping than quick scoping anyway, so I'm indifferent I guess.

I doubt that Treyarch made the changes to the sniper class to make it more realistic; if anything, it was to create more balance. Sniper rifles, like shotguns, are situational weapons, and should carry some kind of penalty if you're going to wade into a firefight like an idiot with one.

If a sniper rifle works just as well as a shotgun at close range (and also has the advantages of being useful at all ranges and highly accurate, as well as usually being faster firing and having more ammo) then it begs the question of why bother even including other weapons in the first place?
This, this, this, this oh and did I mention... this!?
The sniper-rifle is fine... for sniping. End of story.
