It's a cancer on the soul and the epitome of human stupidity made sound.

I will resist the urge to rant indefinitely on the boundless horror within the style of music known as "Rap." Someone already did that anyway.

I'll just say that I hate it completely, and nothing will ever, EVER, make me change my mind.

So you can't sing, can't play an instrument, have a fourth grade vocabulary and still want to be a musician? Have you ever considered Rap?
Thus spoke the ignorant masses. You guys have no clue what you are talking about.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. I despise it, and that is my opinion. Yes, I have been exposed to the "good" and "underground" rap, and it's just as shitty as the rest of it, lyrics aside. It's the fundamentally obnoxious vocals and drum/bass arrangements that really get to me; they're the foundation of the music and the removing of them makes the music a hell of a lot more tolerable (though still not at all enjoyable), but then it ceases to be rap.

Drum and bass are the foundations of Hip Hop, how is it being removed? Apart from drum fills and solos, Hip Hop has the same drumming structure of any other song. I could easily rap over the drumming in "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones. Hip Hop thrives off the usage of sampled music that is re-arranged to create a stable beat to be rapped over. I mean, if it's not your cup of tea, then that is acceptible, but it is extremely ignorant to say it is shit just because you dislike it. I hate Country Western music for the most part, but its clear it requires a certain talent to do it. And I'm not so bullheaded to think otherwise.

I consider "rap music" to be an oxymoron. It's not appealing to the ears, it's just talking over some un-rhythmic beat (any rap music made in the last 10 years, anyway, I've never listened to 80s/early 90s stuff). Pretty much all that soulja boi/ludacrisp b.s. is just for tools who don't think for themselves.

What's wrong with me saying the music is shit? I don't like it. I think it's shit. You don't. We are each individuals and we each have our own tastes that are shaped by our prior experiences and exposures to music as well as other social phenomena. I never said anything about hip-hop, though I dislike it almost as much as I do rap. I never said that rap requires no talent to create or perform, either. Please stop putting words in my mouth.

I can't vouch for Soulja Boi because I hate his, but I'm offended for the Ludacris statement because he's very talented. I'm very free-thinking and open-minded individual and I hate it when people insult the intelligence of MCs and hip hop fans alike.

I'm taking that you calling it the epitome of human stupidity is a way of saying that its easy to create and calling it a cancer to the soul is killing the creative process in the human mind. As well, calling it "shitty" as you are quoted to have saying, is a pretty big insult in my eyes. Being both an MC and a vocalist, I'm just astounded by how ignorant you come off as, saying that people who make it are stupid and the music is shitty, and try to take the intellectual high ground in your ignorance. I'm not saying you don't have a right to dislike it. You do, and I'm fine with you disliking it, but you're instulting one of my favorite art forms, one which I take part in, and that is by extension an insult to me.

The difference is saying something is bad vs. you don't like it. Ares Tyr was explaining that you said it was shit like that was a fake. A simple "I don't like" would make him satisfied, but you just keep on saying it is shit. The difference is once you say [insert subject] is [insert derogatory term] it isn't an opinion anymore. It isn't an opinion once you put is in it like that. If you think it is bad, just say "I think it is bad. I think it is the blight on society and deserve to be destroyed completely. I think." You see how it works now?

I don't like rap in the slightest, but I'll admit that some underground rappers/groups like the Roots and such do have talent. However, the mainstream acts like Kanye West, Jay-Z, 50 Cent et al are arrogant wipes of rectal smear who should be ashamed for ruining mainstream music.

Don't you EVAH speak a con-word about the Jigga Man! Jay-Z is GREAT!
