if something tragic has happened in your life then of course any man should have the right to cry about it, we're only human after all. if anything it can show a strength of character, not weakness.

Real men can cry, but real men also try not to do so like a sissy. It must be a good reason, like pain or heartbreak. A romantic comedy bringing tears to my eyes would deduct some man points.

This is my opinion, not "the way the world should be or else."

Of course real men dont cry, real men cut out their tear ducts when they are young!

In all seriousness, it doesn't matter. I can imagine some people have views on life that mean that things we would consider to be truly sad do not affect them like it does us, and may even view it as a positive. So i cant say that i believe real men should or should not cry, they will or they wont when the time comes.

I don't think real men cry every time something goes wrong. I don't think there is ever any reason to cry when you don't get what you want unless it was a job to help support yourself and your family (luckily, I haven't had this problem but I can imagine it is crushing). I think it is pretty wimpy to bawl at a movie/book/game cut scene, but it is okay to feel a lump in your throat.

And I think every guy has a free pass to cry when someone they love dies. I thought I was doing pretty well when my dad died a couple of years ago. I saw him moments after they turned off the life support machine and I was okay then, but when I walked back into the waiting room and my entire family was crying, I walked into the corridor, hugged my fiancee and cried some very frustrated, angry tears.

To be honest, I think real men don't really care if they cry. It's being a little ***** about it afterwards that makes you look like a stupid little wimp.

I think guys should be able/allowed to cry. I don't know why but if something happens to an animal in a movie, mostly gets killed, I always shred a tear. It has to be in my genes to start to cry easily because I have always been this way and it's really hard to keep it back even if I try. Even in child movies and series I always cried like a baby when something sad happened.

As i always say to my lad or any one else...

It takes a REAL man to cry, alone or infront of anyone else. For f*** sake, their human like anyone else. They have emotions also. Why should they come across cold and heartless when something happens, just because they want to appear "Macho".
My fiance's older brother, broke down in tears over the loss of their gran. He kept saying sorry because he was meant to be the "strong one".. Im sorry, but i respected him more for actually letting out his emotions.

Botteling them up, or hiding away to show them is stupid and dangerous to people's health, and believe me, i know it having hidden my true feelings for so many years because of my family or friends and the need to show people that i was "strong and coping with my life the way it was" when really i was breaking down and constantly battling depression and self harm.

I think its nasty when a girl says she doesnt want to see a man cry, or that other guys jeer and laugh... The only reason i hate seeing lads cry is because i then know just how bad they feel for being able to break down and it upsets ME. It has nothing to do with "omg they must be weak and silly"...

Crying signifies that an emotion is overwhelming you. (or that you need to get an eye bath)

to feel overwhelmed on occasion is not a bad thing.

I think that everyone else Cry's to much.

Only the most badass of men are able to cry in public.

Like when at the movies.

Watching Toy Story 3.
Or UP.

Pixar knows the secrets.

If you haven't seen a situation that can reduce a grown man to tears. You are sorely inexperienced. And have not had enough of lifes bitter medication.

It is perfectly acceptable to cry Manly Tears.

And if you don't agree, Kenshiro will punch you a couple hundred times in the span of a few seconds and your head will asplode.

Men can cry all they want, but I'll still laugh, and I won't be offended if other people laugh at me crying either.

Id you're crying at a sad ending to a film. Then there's something wrong with you. Even if you're a woman it's still wrong.

If you're crying at your mothers funeral then that's normal.
What is wrong with empathy?
Empathy for someone in real life is fine.

Empathy for fake characters is a little.... Odd.
Not when fictional characters represent real emotion.
Emphasis on fictional

They're not real. Why feel sad for them?
Because they represent real emotion, empathy doesn't stop at personal connection. Have you ever felt emotion when watching a film?

This is not a question of whether or not I can distinguish fiction from reality, I simply like to be immersed in the work of fiction I happen to be involved in. Isn't that the point of enjoying fiction in the first place?

If I'm really angry, or hear/ see/ experience something very sad or touching, I cry. It's natural, but it's mostly my friends that see it. But then again, deep, sad, open conversation can lead to such things.

I wouldn't say it's wrong to cry, but then again I'd be condemning myself.
