Ever since I've been playing FPS' I've encountered many a satisfying kill. Some have called them "cheap" others have called them "hilarious" but weve all been there. So I pose my question to the fine Escapist Commmunity, what is your most satisfying kill? If you can include stories of your exploits it is all the better and this list is not exclusively limited to the first person game, If you have tales of daring from other games you are welcome here.

And before you set out to make half the posts something insufferable like "This is already having been done before!" I will let you know that it is more than likely but I don't think I've seen a poll done about the subject. I'm sure it won't matter but at least I've said it

Anyway, I think one of my favorite kills of all time was placing a mine near a suit of armor in Goldeneye and this negating people recieving it. Their screams of fright and rage were as music to my ears!

I always use a sniping method and I'm very sneaky. Which means I usually kill people in the same way (sniper shot or shotgun at close range). However, anybody who's played the Coldsnap map on Halo Custom Edition will understand fighting in Jets in the chasm and mountains. Winning a dogfight there is so satisfying, I just love it :)

Other: Shooting two people through the head with one bullet using my Barrett .50 in Call of Duty 4. Man, you should hear the screams.

Oh, and killing someone by shooting through one of the stone doors in Temple with the Moonraker Laser in Goldeneye.

So mnay in counter strike its hard to remember. One sticks out though, no scoping 2 people though a corner with the scout. I can normally get headshots at short distance while no scoping with, but this shot was not aimed at all and jsut there to supress them.

L4d is also full of them, my best was being cornered by a tank just before the safe house on expert with my very last shot in my pistol killing it.

Other. Killing a ton of people as the Medic in Tf2.

This usually results in them screaming "MEDICS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO KILL PEOPLE!"

There was one amazing kill in Halo 3. Someone was driving a mongoose intending to splatter me from behind. I was holding the rocket pod, and turned just in time to fire a shot. He was close enough that the explosion lowered my shield, but the mongoose rolled off to the side and kept going past me. The satisfying part is that I got a lock on him and three rockets followed him up and over a hill before I saw the fireball over the top of the hill. It was so amazing I recorded and saved it.

Taking people out from across the map with the dot-sight rifle in Killzone 2 is tricky but very cool if you can pull it off.

Gotta love the UT2k4 Shield Gun/flak cannon.

"Oh look, there's someone just over the crest of that hill with a lightning gun"

Run up hill, fire single shot, entire screen goes red, blood clears to show a few tiny tiny chunks of meat being flung away from you at hideous speeds.

1. Smashing "pro" or "competitive" gamers right out of their game by use of exploits or mods (in DoW2, for example, forcing their computer to run a check for a colour ID that isn't actually listed in their own .lua file, resulting in a crash). If they aren't in it for fun, they'll not be in it at all!

2. Stealth kills, such as headshots and backstabbing. Kills where the enemy doesn't know you're there until they're already watching the respawn countdown.

Yeah, I tried to put as many as I could but some of these are really good. I tell you there are many fun kills in online games but nothing feels as fun as playing offline games and being able to see your opponet's real eyes. Also it helps having people in physical striking range, particularly certain aged siblings.

I don't know about hacking, but I definitely agree; if you think games are all about kill:death or being pro AND DON'T ACCEPT OTHER METHODS OF HAVING FUN, you need to be shot in the face repeatedly.

In Halo 2 I killed my brother by throwing a grenade right under the warthog he was trying to get around.

It bounced through, right to his feet and exploded, took out all my shields, killed him and then I got another kill of the other person who was trying to melee him.

Then I took 3 battle rifle shots in the head. >.>

2 head shots from an unzoomed AWP , while 100% flash banged, bad guys were behind cover. Once I pretended like it was skill and not pressing the button for the hell of it, I felt awesome.

Cooking a grenade just perfectly to knock that sniper out of his little hidey hole on CoD.
Pulling the trigger of a Trench gun once and hearing the sound of two bodies hit the ground.
Putting an artillery strike on a position and watch the enemy team vanish in seconds.

On Halo, at the end of a match randomly threw a stick grenade. It stuck to the back of my teammate while he was riding a Ghost. He boosted to smash an enemy. The enemy killed him. My grenade exploded while attached to the body and propelled the Ghost fast enough to splatter the enemy. Pretty close quarters we're talking about heh.
